Síťová podpora distribuovaných zdrojů řízením jejich výkonu / Distributed generation support for voltage regulation by means of power control

This thesis is focused on voltage regulation in low voltage distribution system. It describes power management methods using photovoltaic inverters. The thesis describes the working PQ space of the inverter and the regulation characteristics of the active and reactive power in dependence on the voltage. The practical part focuses on the simulation of specific PQU control settings on the test models created in PSCAD. The model is used as a basis for real measurement. Outputs obtained from measurement and simulation are validated in the text. The last part of the thesis identifies limits for connecting resources with and without support.

Ergonomický audit na vysoké škole / Ergonomic audit at university

This thesis deals with ergonomic audit of the workspace and working conditions of a university. First, factors affecting students and researchers are analyzed, with focus on their effects on physical and mental health. Attention is mainly given to the effects of thermal and moisture parameter of air, carbon dioxide concentration, lighting and classroom and office equipment. Level of adaptation of the workspace to the needs of disabled students and faculty is also considered. In the practical part of the thesis, the proposed audit is carried out at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology. Measurements of ergonomic parameters were performed in selected rooms. Based on their results, shortcomings were identified and corrective measures were proposed.

A Flexible, Natural Deduction, Automated Reasoner for Quick Deployment of Non-Classical Logic

Automated Theorem Provers (ATP) are software programs which carry out inferences over logico-mathematical systems, often with the goal of finding proofs to some given theorem. ATP systems are enormously powerful computer programs, capable of solving immensely difficult problems. Currently, many automated theorem provers exist like E, vampire, SPASS, ACL2, Coq etc. However, all the available theorem provers have some common problems: (1) Current ATP systems tend not to try to find proofs entirely on their own. They need help from human experts to supply lemmas, guide the proof, etc. (2) There is not a single proof system available which provides fully automated platforms for both First Order Logic (FOL) and other Higher Order Logic (HOL). (3) Finally, current proof systems do not have an easy way to quickly deploy and reason over new logical systems, which a logic researcher may want to test. In response to these problems, I introduce the MATR framework. MATR is a platform-independent, codelet-based (independently operating processes) proof system with an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI), where multiple codelets can be selected based on the formal system desired. MATR provides a platform for different proof strategies like deduction and backward reasoning, along with different formal systems such as non-classical logics. It enables users to design their own proof system by selecting from the list of codelets without needing to write an ATP from scratch.

Workspace and Kinematic Modeling and Analysis of Semi-Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic Surgery has been revolutionized by the world of Surgical Robotics. Robot-Assisted Surgeries have been proven to have many advantages over the fundamental, traditional "by-hand" procedures previously conducted, and still currently being done for certain operations. Robot-assisted surgery may offer benefits to patients through the use of minimally invasive techniques, which may result in reduced blood loss, reduced blood transfusion, fewer complications, reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and reduced recovery times (Ho et al., 2011). Studies have proven that robotic surgery may lead to patients recovering faster depending on the timeframe and the type of procedure (Tang et al., 2018). These benefits provide the highest quality care for the patient that can be provided. Robotic-assisted surgical platforms may overcome many of the shortcomings of laparoscopy while preserving the patient benefits (Boggess, 2007). Laparoscopic Surgery provides many benefits over open surgery as well and including the Robotic Surgical Assist allows for further/amplified benefits for the parties involved. The idea is to minimize the need for lengthy patient recovery time, discomfort, and complications caused by the procedure itself. The pain, discomfort, and disability, or other morbidities as a result of surgery is more frequently due to trauma involved in gaining access to the area to perform the intended procedure rather than from the procedure itself (Mack, 2001). Regulating certain areas of the procedure, such as required incision size, allows the patient a smoother recovery. With laparoscopic surgery, it limits risks and complications as a minimally invasive approach but, with robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery, it is even more as such. Currently, there seems to be a struggle in the field of medicine between how best to improve the surgical robots in comparison to how to better optimize, or create, smaller surgical devices to assist in surgeries. A factor that was found to be lacking in the field of medicine was the definition of actions done during surgical procedures. While used widely from a medical standpoint, from an operational standpoint it is not common practice to question the mathematical symbolization of the movements and actions done during surgery. The goal of this research is to determine, analyze, evaluate, and simplify the parameters that are present during Laparoscopic Surgery. These parameters will be compared between traditional surgery and robot-assisted surgery. The robot-assisted condition will be established using the Semi-Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery Support System developed by a University of Central Florida Senior Design Team finalized in the academic semester of Spring 2020. This system utilizes the aspects and features of a surgical robot while maintaining a small form factor and cheap production and purchasing price. Ultimately, this will allow for further evaluation of technologies exploiting the developed surgical robot for research in semi-autonomous control, and safety mechanisms in the context of robotic surgery. It is important to note that this technology is developed as a kinematic guide for laparoscopic surgery. This guiding assist is similar to the features incorporated in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery which is what allows us to use this surgical assist device to represent the robot-assisted condition. This technology optimizes the condition of conventional laparoscopic surgery by introducing a braking mechanism into the standard procedure without requiring the major application of the full surgical systems. Through the utilization of this guiding system, this research has established and compared the kinematic and workspace parameters for robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery when the system is equipped vs. when it is equipped and activated; creating two different conditions of Workspace Controlled Laparoscopic Surgery and Kinematically Constrained Laparoscopic Surgery. It was deemed necessary to accomplish an understanding of both domains as well as in comparison to traditional laparoscopic surgical practices in order to engage the argument from a holistic point of view. Throughout this research, it was determined that, when evaluating traditional Laparoscopic Surgery, there are a series of parameters that are present when discussing the workspace of the human abdomen and the kinematics of the trocar, surgical tool, and camera placed into that workspace. Between these parameters, a variety of similarities was discovered using geometric rules and algebraic functional relationships within the kinematics. Upon equipping the Semi-Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery Support System to the procedure, certain parameters get "zeroed out" due to the fixed nature of the device from one abdominal insertion point to the next. While most parameters may maintain the same behaviors upon the installation of the technology, the majority of these same parameters get "zeroed out" when the technology is activated. The overall purpose and intent of this research is to define, evaluate, and compare various surgical parameters associated with the practice of laparoscopic surgery while running a comparison between the effectiveness of traditional surgery against robot-assisted surgery that can be made from a new perspective by evaluating the differences in their respective parameters. Results which will be discussed include: specific parameter definitions and labeling, how these parameters benefit the medical field, direct parameter comparison between the evaluated conditions of traditional surgery and robot-assisted surgery (represented by kinematic guiding technology and comparing when the device is applied, Workspace Controlled condition, versus when the braking system is activated, Kinematically Constrained condition), and how these different surgical techniques modify the conditions of surgery for the surgeon and the patient.

This study examines how a pleasent office can be designed to promote health, well-being and work efficiency. The study aims to provide office workers with an insight into their work situation and how it affects them. Also how companies, thru architectural- and design features can create a supportive office environment.  The study adresses the following questions: "What qualitites in architecture and interior design are the most important for good health, well-being and work efficiency at an office?" and "Which office type is the most preferable according to the results of the study?".  Based on the implemented theory, survey and interview, the study identifies the modern cell office with a permanent workplace as the most adventageous type. Additionally, the hybrid office with cell office influences combined with a permanent workplace is an advantageous type in relation to good health, well-being and work efficiency. An example of an office has been created where the highest grade possible is achieved. This from a rating template that is based on the results of the study. Designing an office is a complex task that requires fulfilment of various aspects to reach a good grade and therefore, a pleasant office.

This study aims to examine flexible workspaces from the perspective of a real estate owner. The research questions include how flexible workspaces will develop in Stockholm, how well the provision of flexible workspaces fit into the business model for real estate companies and how they can accommodate solutions on flexibility in their portfolio.  The method used consists of two parts, firstly a case study performed on the London based real estate company British Land who have developed a concept for flexible workspace called Storey. The second part consisted of eleven interviews with representatives from real estate companies in Stockholm. By combining these two parts, a sound basis for mapping the success factors for how to extend a business model by offering flexible workspaces along with an appreciation of its future development could be made. The findings include the real estate companies’ perception that increased levels of flexibility will be a common sight in the real estate landscape in the future. There are however several different approaches on which strategy to choose in order to offer concepts for flexibility in an office portfolio, all depending on the organisational structure and business model for the individual real estate company. The contribution of this study is therefore that real estate companies can gain a number of benefits by offering flexibility in their portfolio. / Studien ämnar till att undersöka koncept för flexibla arbetsplatser ur ett fastighetsägarperspektiv. Forskningsfrågorna behandlar hur väl det passar en fastighetsägares affärsmodell att tillhandahålla olika koncept för flexibla arbetsplatser och kontor i sin fastighetsportfölj och hur de i sådana fall skall gå till väga, samt hur utvecklingen av detta arbetssätt kommer att emottas på Stockholms-marknaden.  Undersökningens metod består av två delar. Först har en fallstudie utförts på det Londonbaserade fastighetsbolaget British Land som själva utvecklat ett koncept för flexibla arbetsplatser, kallat Storey. Därefter har elva intervjuer med representanter från fastighetsbolag i Stockholm genomförts. Detta har skapat ett solitt fundament för att kartlägga de framgångsfaktorer som ligger till grund för hur en fastighetsägare kan utöka sin affärsmodell för att erbjuda flexibla arbetsytor. Resultaten pekar på att flexibla arbetsplatser kommer att fortsätta att växa på Stockholms-marknaden och bli ett vanligare arbetssätt för både små och stora företag. Det finns sedan ett antal strategier en fastighetsägare kan välja för att erbjuda sådana koncept i sitt fastighetsbestånd, vilket är beroende på organisationsstrukturen och affärsmodellen i det enskilda fastighetsbolaget. Forskningsbidraget i studien är bland annat att det finns en mängd fördelar som en fastighetsägare kan dra nytta av genom att tillhandahålla koncept för ökad flexibilitet i sin fastighetsportfölj.

The rise of information technologies and creative industries formed a new class of “creative knowledge workers” with special needs for a workspace design. The recent tendency of playful and bold workspace designs for creative industries was labeled by some researchers as a “creative workspace,” but a body of knowledge about design strategies supporting “creative knowledge workers’” performance is still limited. This master’s thesis research attempts to define “creative workspace” design phenomenon based on the three main stakeholder groups’ perceptions. The research analyzes existing literature and conducts in-depth interviews with designers and users to collect the data and compare the findings. Based on the findings, research proposes an interactive exploratory design game helping to easier communicated spatial ideas related to the “creative workspace” design.
