Den vårdande relationen och dess utmaningar inom palliativ vård : Systematisk litteraturstudie ur sjuksköterskors perspektiv

Background: In the encounter of patients and relatives in palliative care, the nurses must care according to their responsibility, but also care based on love and compassion. The care must be based on relieving suffering where the care is to be person-centered based on the equal value of the human being. Taking care of both patient and relative is considered important. Aim: To describe nurses experiences of encounter patients and relatives during palliative care at the end of life. Method: A systematic literature study with a qualitative approach with a descriptive synthesis. 13 articles were considered to respond to the purpose, which were analyzed for the result. Result: The nurses felt that closeness created a security where a trusting relationship was made possible with the patient and relative. An important communication adapted to the individual opened an emotional exchange between nurses, patient and relative. At the same time, the nurses experienced difficulties in becoming emotionally engaged. Factors that the nurses experienced challenging for encounter were lack of knowledge, staff, and lack of time, and when the patient and relative had different needs. Conclusion: The nurses need more time and knowledge to be able to encounter the patient and relative in a way that is safe and caring, where the nurses gets a feeling of being enough. The trusting relationship between nurses patient and relative can lead to better care but can at the same time be considered challenging for the nurses.
