En stor del av kommunikationen i vårt samhälle sker igenom skriftspråk, så som böcker och andra texter. Läsförmåga är nödvändig för att ta del av skriftspråket. Läsutvecklingen är komplex och lärares stöttning i den är viktig, dessutom är intresse för litteratur och dess innehåll en viktig komponent för läsutveckling. Läsintresset ska stimuleras av lärare i skolan, men det kan vara utmanande att väcka och utveckla läsmotivationen hos olika elever. Denna studie avser därför ge ett kunskapsbidrag om hur lärare kan arbeta läsfrämjande i sin undervisning. Syftet med studien är att utifrån lärares beskrivningar undersöka hur de arbetar för att stimulera och skapa läsmotivation hos elever. Följande frågeställningar användes för att besvara syftet: • Vilka läsaktiviteter beskriver lärare att de använder för att motivera elever att läsa? • Vilka faktorer beskriver lärare påverkar elevers läsmotivation? I studien användes en kvalitativ metod som innefattade semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex f-3-lärare. Deltagare till studien valdes utifrån ett kriteriestyrt urval och undersökningen innebar analyser av de sex utvalda deltagarnas utsagor. Studien har det sociokulturella perspektivet som ramverk. Studiens resultat visar att lärare har en viktig roll som inspiratörer för läsning. Bland annat genom att vara läsande förebilder, men också för att modellera läsning och stötta elever i att välja böcker som både är intressanta och lagom svåra. Bokpresentationer, högläsning och textsamtal skapar intresse och motivation inför elevers enskilda läsning, dessutom framkom elevers egen delaktighet som en viktig faktor för läsmotivation. / A large part of the communication in our society takes place through written language, such as books and other texts. To be able to take part in these, the ability to read is necessary. However, the development of reading is complex, and the support of teachers is important. In addition, interest in literature and its content is an important component of the development of reading. Reading interest should be stimulated by teachers at school, but it can be challenging to awaken and develop the desire to read depending on the students. Therefore, this study intends to provide a knowledge contribution on how teachers can work to promote reading in their teaching. The purpose of the study is to investigate, based on teachers' descriptions, how they work to stimulate students reading motivation. To answer the purpose, the following questions were used: • What reading activities do teachers describe that they use in order to motivate students to read? • What factors do teachers describe that affects students' reading motivation? The study used a qualitative method that included semi-structured interviews with six Primary School teachers. Participants for the study were selected based on a criteria-driven sample and the survey involved analyses of the six selected participants' statements. The study has a sociocultural perspective. The results of the study show that teachers have an important role as inspirers for reading. For example, by being Role models as readers, but also modelling reading and support students in choosing books that are both interesting and moderately difficult. Book presentations, reading aloud and text conversations create interest and motivation for students' reading. In addition, students' participation emerged as an important factor for reading engagement.
