Uppsatsen syftar till att analysera vilka förutsättningar som finns och vilka behov som behöver tillgodosesför att kunna rekrytera officerare, som har familj till internationell tjänst. Tidigare studier har tagit sinutgångspunkt enbart i officerens inställning och villighet till internationell tjänst. Det som saknats är studierav officerspartnerns och familjens värderingar, situation och behov och att koppla detta till Försvarsmaktensbehov av tillgänglighet på rätt utbildade officerare. Denna brist åtgärdas något genom denna uppsats som tarutgångspunkt i intervjuer av partners till officerare och lyfter fram deras behov vid och funderingar runtinternationell tjänst. Uppsatsen ger även svar på vilka behov Försvarsmakten har av officerare med familj,vilken påverkan familjen har på officerens tillgänglighet för internationell tjänst och vilka behov officerensfamilj har före, under och efter en internationell tjänst. Vidare förs en diskussion, utifrån ett principielltresonemang runt hur ersättningen till officeren skulle kunna hanteras samt behovet av en attitydförändring ihela samhället kopplat till internationell tjänst. Slutligen ges i uppsatsen förslag på åtgärder förFörsvarsmakten som skulle kunna öka tillgängligheten på officerare för internationell tjänst och förslag påfortsatt forskning. / The purpose of this essay is to analyse what conditions and needs are to be satisfied inorder to be able to recruit officers with a family for international service. The essaytakes its starting point in Sweden’s increasingly international commitment, whichplaces greater demands on accessibility of officers for international engagements. Thestudy highlights three different types of actors’ perspectives. Firstly, the SwedishDefence Forces and their needs. The needs are analysed from official documents andinterviews with representatives from the defence forces. Secondly, the officers’ attitudeand needs, which were analysed from a questionnaire carried out on Staff Programmestudents at the National Defence College in 2004. Thirdly, the needs of the officers’families analysed through interviews with officers’ partners. This analysis is the essay’s“Centre of Gravity” and it is mainly here that the essay contributes to something new.The analysis is supported by the theory “Livsformsteorin”. The essay gives the answerto what needs the defence forces have concerning officers with a family, what influencethe family has on the accessibility of international service and what needs the officer’sfamily has before, during and after international service.
