Our study is looking into afterschool teacher's reflections of their experiences with challenges and possibilities in the complementary education and student's perspective about the afterschool education. To accomplish these results, we have interviewed six afterschool teachers and four students. The participators have been informed about the study before the interview and that their identities won't appear in the study, therefore we haven´t used their real names. The method we have used is the semi structured interview, to get as wide and informed answers as possible. We have used two different theories to analyze our data, the sociocultural theory and the new institutional theory, because these theories connect with different aspects of our study and that´s the reason why we exercise both. We have also used six different articles in our study, whereat five are written in swedish about swedish afterschool programs and one of them is an international article about an american afterschool program. These articles are used for the discussion, where we compare the results from our analyze with these articles. The results we have accomplished is that the afterschool teachers were experiencing challenges with the complementary education and the most frequent challenges were planning time, framework factors and the status of the professional role. The possibilities in the complementary education they illustrated were the curriculum, interest of activities and the student's participation.
