Malmö universitet: Fakulteten för hälsa och samhälle, Institutionen för vårdvetenskap, 2021. Bakgrund: HIV är en global folkhälsosjukdom som 38 miljoner människor världen över lever med. Diagnosen kräver livslång behandling eftersom den är kronisk. Välbehandlad HIV smittar inte men obehandlad HIV leder till det dödliga tillståndet AIDS. Stigmatisering kring HIV-positiva förekommer inte endast i samhället, men också i sjukvårdsmiljöer. Det grundar sig ofta i rädsla och okunskap. Kunskap och verktyg behövs för att kunna ge god omvårdnad till denna patientgrupp. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturöversikten var att undersöka HIV-patienters upplevelser i mötet med vårdpersonal. Metod: För att genomföra arbetet gjordes en litteraturöversikt med elva studier med kvalitativ ansats. Studierna kvalitetsgranskades och innehållet analyserades genom att identifiera olika kategorier. Resultat: I resultatet rapporterades både positiva och negativa upplevelser i mötet med vårdpersonal, men där de negativa var mer framträdande. De positiva upplevelserna innebar att patienter upplevde ett gott bemötande från specialistvården, och de negativa upplevelserna innebar att patienter upplevde ett sämre bemötande med förekomst av diskriminering och stigmatisering utanför specialistvården. Förekomsten av diskriminering och stigmatisering var tydlig och framkom i samtliga studier. Tre kategorier identifierades i resultatet: okunskap, brist på konfidentialitet samt skam och skuldbeläggande. Konklusion: HIV-patienters fysiska och psykiska mående är ett komplext område och bör behandlas därefter. Ytterligare kunskap om sjukdomstillståndet och utbildning i hur omvårdnaden kan förbättras för denna patientgrupp krävs och bör ses som en viktig prioritering i utvecklingen av sjukvården. Background: HIV is a global public health disease which 38 million people all over the world are living with today. It requires lifelong treatment since it is a chronic illness. Well treated HIV is not contagious. Untreated HIV will lead to the deadly condition AIDS. Stigma around HIV-positive people is not only found in society but also in healthcare environments. It is often based on fear and lack of knowledge. Tools and knowledge are needed to be able to provide good care for this group of patients. Aim: The purpose of this literature review was to examine the experiences of HIV-patients encountering with health care professionals. Method: To carry out the work, a literature review was made with 11 studies with a qualitative approach. The studies were quality reviewed and the content was analyzed by identifying different categories. Result: The results reported both positive and negative experiences in encounter with health care professionals, but the negative ones were more prominent. The positive experiences meant that patients felt they were treated well by the specialized healthcare unit, and the negative experiences meant that patients felt they were met with less positive attitudes, with examples of discrimination and stigmatization, outside of specialist care. The prevalence of discrimination and stigmatization was clear and emerged in all studies. Three categories were identified in the results: lack of knowledge, lack of confidentiality and shame and guilt. Conclusion: The physical and mental state of HIV patients is complex and should be treated accordingly. Further knowledge of the disease state and education in how nursing can be improved for this patient group is required and should be seen as an important priority in the development of health care.
