In today’s Swedish preschool curriculum there are demands of using digital tools. The Swedish government wants to change this and has sent a request to Skolverket (the Swedish educational authority) to revise the preschool curriculum so that the digital tools no longer have a prominent part in it. The aim of the present study has, with this in mind, been to examine how preschool teachers feel about digital tools in Swedish preschool. The study used qualitative interviews as a means of collecting data and took theoretical support in the sociocultural perspective. The findings that were made, among others, was that male and female preschool teachers approached digital tools in both similar and different ways. Similarities between the cohorts were partially that they both had a mindful approach when using digital tools and saw scaffolding and interplay between children as paramount in children's exploration of digital tools. All respondents opposed the use of digital tools as a means of “babysitting”, tranquilizing, or means of passing time. Differences between the groups were partially the shifting digital competency in the respondents. The competencies of the male preschool teachers came from interest while the female preschool teachers' competencies came from continuous training, education etc. Another difference that came forth in the study was the difference in responsibility between the interviewees, whereas the male preschool teachers were found to have a greater responsibility regarding the digital tools at their preschools.
