Bakgrund: Studier visade att det saknades erfarenheter hos distriktssköterskor då det gällde bemötande av patienter med psykisk ohälsa. Det ansågs viktigt att ha rätt kunskap om bemötande av dessa patienter. Ett gott bemötande inverkade på hur vården upplevdes av patienter och kunde därför antas vara en viktig faktor för att arbeta med gällande vårdkvalitet. Syfte: Syftet med denna intervjustudie var att belysa distriktsjuksköterskans upplevelser och behov av att möta patienter med psykisk ohälsa på hälsocentral. Metod: Studien genomfördes med en kvalitativ metod med semistrukturerade intervjuer och analyserades sedan med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Resultatet visade att distriktssköterskans upplevelse av att bemöta och vårda patienter med psykisk ohälsa gjordes genom att skapa tillit och förtroende hos patienten. I arbetet som distriktssköterska förekom det ofta känslor som otillräcklighet, rädsla, frustration och stress. För att kunna vårda patienter med psykisk ohälsa fanns det vissa förutsättningar som påverkade distriktssköterskans arbete. De förutsättningar som beskrevs var samarbete med andra vårdinstanser, handledning/spegling och kunskap. Slutsats: Att som distriktssköterska känna frustration, otillräcklighet, rädsla och stress kunde påverka relationen till patienten som kunde leda till ett lidande för individen. För att förbättra mötet med patienten krävdes att distriktssköterskan fick mer tid till denna patientgrupp. Distriktssköterskan kunde inte ensam bära det primära ansvaret utan en tydlig ansvarsfördelning borde följas mellan olika vårdinstanser. För att kunna förstå och behandla patienter med psykisk ohälsa krävdes utbildning vilket distriktssköterskorna borde få kontinuerligt då behov uppstod. / Background: Studies showed that there was a lack of experience among district nurses when it came to treating patients with mental illness. It was considered important to have the right knowledge about the treatment of these patients. A good response affected how the care was experienced by patients and could therefore be assumed to be an important factor in working with the current quality of care. Aim: The aim of this interview study was to shed light on the district nurse's experiences and need to meet patients with mental illness at a health center. Method: The study was conducted with a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews and was then analyzed with a qualitative content analysis. Results: The results showed that the district nurse's experience of treating and caring for patients with mental illness was made by creating trust and confidence in the patient. In the work as a district nurse, there were often feelings such as inadequacy, fear, frustration and stress. In order to be able to care for patients with mental illness, there were certain conditions that affected the district nurse's work. The conditions described were collaboration with other care agencies, supervision / reflection and knowledge. Conclusion: As a district nurse, feeling frustration, inadequacy, fear and stress could affect the relationship with the patient which could lead to suffering for the individual. To improve the meeting with the patient, it was required that the district nurse had more time for this patient group. The district nurse could not alone bear the primary responsibility, but a clear division of responsibilities should be followed between different care agencies.
