Professionellas perspektiv på våld i ungas partnerrelationer : Professionals’ Experiences of Violence in Young People’s Partner Relationships

Till följd av identifierade kunskapsluckor var syftet med studien att undersöka professionellas upplevelser av att möta och stödja unga som blivit utsatta för våld i en partnerrelation. En kvalitativ metod i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer tillämpades i syfte att tillfångata personliga aspekter. Urvalet bestod av sex intervjupersoner, vilka arbetar inom olika verksamhetsområden, såsom skolkurator, hälso- och sjukvårdskurator, behandlare och socialsekreterare. All empiri analyserades utifrån Goffmans stigmateori, Scheffs teori om skam, empowerment samt våldets normaliseringsprocess. Utifrån resultaten var det möjligt att identifiera likheter och skillnader i hur professionella möter och stödjer unga våldsutsatta i en partnerrelation. Resultaten framförde att professionella upplever att unga främst drabbas av psykisk ohälsa, vilket kan leda till konsekvenser i framtiden. För att professionella ska kunna stödja den unga visar resultaten att den unga behöver känna tillit till den professionella. Resultaten visade också att en del unga vänder sig till sina vänner med sina våldsupplevelser. Vidare belyste resultaten att professionella inte har utrymme att arbeta förebyggande. / As a result of identified knowledge gaps the aim of the study was to examine professionals’ experiences of meeting and supporting young people who have been exposed to violence in a partner relationship. A qualitative method in the shape of semi-structured interviews have been applied in order to capture personal aspects. The selection is consisted of six professionals who work as school counselor, health care counselor, processor, and social worker in the social services. All data has been analyzed based on Goffman’s stigma theory, Scheff’s theory of shame, empowerment and the normalization process of violence. Based on the results, we found that it was possible to identify similarities and differences in how professionals meet and support young victims of violence in a partner relationship. Furthermore, we found that professionals’ experience that young people especially suffer from mental illness which in turn can lead to long-term consequences. In order for professionals to have the opportunity to support the young person we found that the young person must have trust in the professional. Further, we found that young people also seek help from their friends to deal with their experiences of violence. Finally, the result of the study highlighted that professionals do not have the opportunity to work preventively with the phenomenon because of lack of resources.
