Musik i migration : En etnografisk studie om latinamerikanska musiker i Sverige -Motivation, autodidaktik och integration

In this magister's thesis, the aim is to highlight the circumstances that caused four Latin American autodidactical musicians to leave their countries and migrate in order to settle down in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. The propose is to give a greater understanding of how the musicians learned music and how they perceived their dreams and their motivation in relation to reality. The method for collecting the data was obtained from interviews and the study es based on an ethnographic approach. The interviews provided interesting statements that provided the raw material for the study. The statements were about the informants' childhoods, when they became musicians, their relation to the music and how they found their way to Sweden. The results of the study indicate that the motivation that was the driving force for the informants to satisfy their dreams also was the same force that caused the dream to vanish when it was fulfilled.
