The purpose of the study has been to apply a gender perspective to analyze and discuss how men are perceived in preschool. Based on previous research, we have identified that there is a stigma or notion that men are a potential threat. In the essay, we will discuss how the notion of men in preschool are constructed and how it affects the division of labor from a gender perspective. We have conducted discussions both at an individual level, group and community level that extend nationally and internationally. We have studied the development of preschool and seen a pattern that it has been a female-dominated profession since young children's institutions were founded in the 19th century. Our study is based on a social constructivism and intersectionality theory in our analysis and results. The focus has been on guardians' ideas about how they experience male educators in preschool. We have discussed concerns about men and how trust is created. We have done this study with a qualitative research method where we conducted six interviews with informants who are parents of children who attend or have attended the Swedish preschool.
