Previous issue date: 2015-08-05 / This paper analyses the relationship between the Internet and social movements to understand better how this work in social media. Assuming that the media has an irrefutable role in contemporary society (based on the principle that can lead and even influence in certain relations of individuals with the world), this work aims to understand better the relationship between media and social movements, seeking to clarify the link between the Internet and social movements, if the perception of violence in the movements is negative or positive, and if the term 'social movement' have been used correctly by journalists and in the discourse of protesters, taking into account the case chosen for this study. As part of a union of content that is already complex, research on social movements can and should diversify to get as close as possible to a deeper understanding. So that involves numerous issues, conflicts and theories from various fields. Is important to note that each new project there is also a new observation and conclusion in accordance with the line of proposed work. In this case the focus is therefore the ratio of movements with new media (web) and social networks that form around the posts and, in some cases, are face to face. Analyses were made from threads of the page of newspaper Folha de São Paulo on Facebook, related to the event ‘is not just for 20 cents’ and posted on June of the same year, a time of intensification of such events. / Este trabalho analisa a relação entre a Internet e movimentos sociais para compreender de melhor forma como estes funcionam nas mídias sociais. Partindo da premissa de que a mídia hoje possui uma atuação irrefutável na sociedade contemporânea (com base no princípio que pode conduzir e até mesmo influir em certas relações de indivíduos com o mundo), este trabalho visa entender melhor a relação entre mídia e movimentos sociais, procurando compreender as relações entre Internet e movimentos sociais, se a percepção de atos de violência nos movimentos é negativa ou positiva, e se o termo ‘movimento social’ têm sido utilizado de forma correta pelos jornalistas e no discurso de manifestantes, levando em consideração a análise do caso escolhido para estudo. Como parte de uma união de conteúdos que por si só já são complexos, a pesquisa em movimentos sociais pode e deve se diversificar para que chegue o mais perto possível de um entendimento mais aprofundado. De maneira que envolve inúmeros temas, conflitos e teorias das mais diversas áreas é importante ressaltar que a cada novo projeto há, também, novas observações e conclusões de acordo com a linha em que se propõe trabalhar. Neste caso o foco, portanto, é a relação dos movimentos com as novas mídias (web) e redes sociais que se formam em torno de postagens e, em alguns casos, são presenciais. As análises foram feitas a partir de postagens da página da Folha de São Paulo no Facebook relacionadas ao evento ‘Não é só por 20 centavos’ e postadas no período do mês de junho do mesmo ano, época de maior propagação destas manifestações em específico.
