CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeiÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel Superior / RESUMO
A presente tese objetiva compor a histÃria de vida de quatro professores universitÃrios â Ciro Nogueira Filho, Josà Maria de Sales Andrade Neto, LuÃs Carlos Uchoa Saunders e Roberto ClÃudio Frota Bezerra, que destinaram suas vidas à academia, as quais se entrelaÃam com a trajetÃria da Universidade Federal do CearÃ. Especificamente a pesquisa, com recorte temporal dos anos de 1960 a 2013, pretende (i) conhecer os fenÃmenos individuais da histÃria familiar, escolar, profissional/acadÃmica e sociopolÃtica dos professores universitÃrios, com vistas a recompor a histÃria da Universidade Federal do CearÃ; (ii) delinear apreciaÃÃes crÃticas acerca do papel social da Universidade Federal do Cearà no contexto educacional e
sociopolÃtico cearense. A pesquisa qualitativa, centrada na HistÃria Oral de Vida, està sustentada com as contribuiÃÃes teÃricas das Ãreas da Filosofia, HistÃria e EducaÃÃo, com as
quais os conceitos de MemÃria, Pensamento CrÃtico, HistÃria Oral de Vida e HistÃria Social guardam coerÃncia. O procedimento metodolÃgico da investigaÃÃo decorreu de modo sequencial de julho de 2012 a julho de 2013, e se realizou em trÃs tempos e modos: pesquisa bibliogrÃfica, documental e de campo, subsidiadas pela tÃcnica da entrevista semiestruturada com a finalidade de orientar a narrativa autobiogrÃfica. A anÃlise das histÃrias de vida dos sujeitos permitiu classificar as falas em cinco categorias e seus respectivos nÃcleos de sentido:
(i) FamÃlia; (ii) Escola; (iii) Professores; (iv) Alunos; e (v) Universidade. Os resultados indicaram que a recomposiÃÃo da histÃria de vida (familiar, escolar, profissional/acadÃmica e
sociopolÃtica) dos professores, sujeitos desta pesquisa, possibilitaram o resgate da histÃria da Universidade Federal do Cearà ao identificar aspectos do ensino superior e fornecer
informaÃÃes sobre a qualidade, a equidade, a eficiÃncia do ensino, pesquisa e extensÃo, e a interiorizaÃÃo. O posicionamento que se teve ante esse cenÃrio aparece, ao final desta tese, na forma de apreciaÃÃes crÃticas acerca do seu papel social no contexto educacional e sociopolÃtico cearense.

This thesis aims to make the life story of four university professors: Ciro Nogueira Filho, JosÃ
Maria de Sales Andrade Neto, LuÃs Carlos Uchoa Saunders e Roberto Claudio Frota Bezerra.
They devoted their lives to the Federal University of Ceara. Specifically search with temporal
clipping the years 1960 to 2013, aims to (i) meet the individual phenomena, school, family
history professional / academic and socio-political university teachers, in order to reconstruct
the history of the Federal University of CearÃ; delineate (ii) critical assessments about the role
of the Federal University of Cearà Cearà in the educational context and sociopolitical.
Qualitative research focused on Oral History of Life, is supported with theoretical
contributions in the areas of Philosophy, History and Education, with which the concepts of
memory, Critical Thinking, Oral Life History and Social History guard consistency. The
methodological approach of the research was carried out sequentially from July 2012 to July
2013, and was held in three tenses and moods: bibliographic, documentary and field research,
subsidized by the technique of semi-structured interviews in order to guide the

recovery of the history of life (family, school, professional / academic and socio-political) of
teachers, subjects in this study, allowed the rescue of the history of the Federal University of
Cearà to identify different aspects of higher education and provide information about the
quality, equity, efficiency of teaching, research and extension, and internalization. The
positioning of the researcher towards this scenario appears at the end of this thesis, in the
form of critical assessments about their social role in the educational and socio-political
CearÃ.
