Introduktion: Pandemin Covid-19 utmanade hälso- och sjukvården på flera sätt under åren 2020-2022. Operationssjuksköterskor omplacerades till intensivvårdsavdelningar för att vårda svårt sjuka patienter med Covid-19 och har beskrivit upplevelser såsom ökad stress, oro, förvirring, misstro och osäkerhet men även ökad självsäkerhet och styrka. Det saknas forskning som beskriver operationssjuksköterskors återgång till operationsavdelning efter pandemin Covid-19. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva operationssjuksköterskors upplevelser av sin yrkesfunktion vid återgång till operationsavdelningarna efter pandemin Covid-19. Metod: Kvalitativ metod med induktiv ansats användes. Ett bekvämlighetsurval med 13 deltagare. Intervjuer genomfördes med operationssjuksköterskor på två olika sjukhus i Mellansverige. Resultat: Resultatet presenteras i ett tema ”Att stå i frontlinjen och sedan återvända till det normala igen” och två huvudkategorier “Operationssjuksköterskans upplevelser av att komma hem igen” samt “Att återgå till utmaningar i arbetet när allt inombords kändes annorlunda” med tre respektive fyra underkategorier. Resultatet speglade olika utmaningar som operationssjuksköterskorna ställdes inför men också hur det bidrog till utveckling av deras kompetens och samarbete med övriga professioner. Konklusion: Att återgå till arbetet på operationsavdelningen efter pandemin Covid-19 innebar flera utmaningar för operationssjuksköterskorna. Det är av vikt för ledningen att ha förståelse för att deras återgång till yrkesfunktionen görs successivt. Samt att de erbjuds ett anpassat arbetstempo, ges möjligheter till återhämtning och tillse att det skapas goda samarbetsmöjligheter mellan olika professionerna på operationsavdelningen. / Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic challenged healthcare in many ways during the years 2020-2022. Operating room nurses were replaced to intensive care units to care for seriously ill patients with Covid-19 and they have described experiences of increased feelings of stress, anxiety, confusion, disbelief and insecurity but also experiences of increased self-confidence and vigour. There is no research today that describes operating room nurses return to the operating unit after the Covid-19 pandemic. Aim: The aim of the study was to describe operating room nurses experiences of their professional function when coming back to the operating department after the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: Qualitative method with inductive approach where used. A convenience selection with 13 participants. The interviews was carried out with operating room nurses at two different hospitals in the middle of Sweden. Results: The result is presented by one theme “Being in the front line and then returning to the normal again” and two main-categories “The OR nurse experiences of coming home again” and “Going back to challenges at work when everything inside felt different” with three and four sub-categories. The result reflected challenges but also rewarding experiences from the operating room nurses. Conclusion: Going back to work at the operating unit after the pandemic Covid-19 meant several challenges for the operating room nurses. It is important for the management to take into account that the operating room nurses, when returning to their professional function is made successively. And that they get an adapted work pace, opportunity for recovery and make sure that the professions on the operating unit returns to good forms of cooperation.
