Previous issue date: 2012-02-29 / Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais / This research aimed to understand how prostitutes are educated in the practice of prostitution. This research is developed with the aim of transforming absences in presence, that is, seeking to understand the experiences of this social group that historically has been impelled to invisibility by the hegemonic order. For to think of education through experience and understand the prostitute in the movement of its existence, we use the theoretical contributions of popular education and phenomenology that strengthened the understanding that the process of educating themselves not only through effective intellection, but it is also true of perception and sensitivity. The phenomenon has been focused on the research is process of educating themselves on the night by women engaged in prostitution in nightclubs in São Carlos / SP. To grasp this phenomenon we used the following instruments: the field approach, coexistence, conversations with prostitutes, observation and field notes. The analysis of research is result of dialogue and coexistence with prostitutes and unveiled that through the availability, distrust and resistance, these women develop different educacional processes, such to facing adversity, weaving bonds of cooperation and solidarity, dealing with diversity, breaking gender conventions, make choices and implement actions to meet their needs, to get fancy, among others. There is much to learn with the prostitutes, but for this it is necessary to surround the phenomenon of prostitution and strip off of stereotypes. Only then can we realize that educating yourself in the night appears as praxis to transform reality, to reveal the prostitutes on the move in search to be more. Refuting the position of the victim these women create and experience new ways of being / living / work and reinvent the world, so the story. / A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo compreender como prostitutas se educam na prática da prostituição. A proposição dessa investigação é elaborada com intuito de transformar ausências em presenças, isto é, procurando desvelar as experiências desse grupo social que, historicamente, tem sido impelido à invisibilidade pela ordem hegemônica. A fim de pensar a educação por meio da experiência e compreender a prostituta no movimento da sua existência, lançamos mão de aportes teóricos da educação popular e da fenomenologia que fortaleceram a compreensão de que o processo de educar-se não se efetiva somente por meio da intelecção, mas se vale também da percepção e da sensibilidade. O fenômeno focalizado na pesquisa foi o processo de educar-se na noite vivenciado por mulheres que exercem prostituição em casas noturnas de São Carlos/SP. Para apreensão desse fenômeno foram adotados os seguintes procedimentos metodológicos: aproximação a campo, convivência, conversas com prostitutas e observação com posterior registro em diário de campo. A análise da pesquisa, bem como todo o processo de pesquisa, foi fruto do diálogo e convivência com as prostitutas e desvelou que, por meio da disponibilidade, da desconfiança e da resistência, essas mulheres desenvolvem distintos processos educativos, tais como enfrentar as adversidades, tecer vínculos de colaboração e solidariedade, lidar com a diversidade, soltar a puta que há dentro de si (se despir de convenções de gênero), realizar escolhas e implementar ações para atender suas necessidades, dar asas à imaginação, dentre outros. Há muito que se aprender com as prostitutas, mas para isso faz-se necessário circundar o fenômeno da prostituição e despir-se de estereótipos. Só assim será possível perceber que o educar-se na noite configura-se como práxis de transformação da realidade, ao desvelar as prostitutas em movimento na busca por ser mais. Refutando a posição de vítima essas mulheres criam e vivenciam novas formas de ser/estar/atuar no mundo e reinventam, assim, a história.
