Esta tese tem como objetivo investigar o conceito de comunidade ética, temática por Kant desenvolvida na terceira parte do escrito A religião nos limites da simples razão. Tal investigação se direciona no sentido de abordar o que denominamos de desdobramento do conceito de comunidade ética. Kant, cabe dizer, não se serve ou aponta explicitamente para algo semelhante a um desdobramento conceitual da noção de comunidade ética. Com efeito, a sua argumentação permite que tal avaliação seja extraída, uma vez que há, relativamente à noção de comunidade ética, uma visível sobreposição de definições. A comunidade ética, inicialmente, é definida nos termos de uma união dos homens sob leis de virtude. Essa definição basilar se impõe em vista do que Kant denomina de estado de natureza ético, um estado de corrupção moral que se apresenta sob a alçada da coletividade. Ocorre que, embora esse conceito de comunidade ética (enquanto uma união sob leis de virtude) supra a necessidade inicial de se pensar uma condição antagônica ao estado de natureza ético, ele por si só, na medida em que Kant pretende lhe conferir maior inteligibilidade, não se sustenta. Em vista das necessidades argumentativas que se impuseram, seja de clareza, seja de completude, Kant foi levado a desdobrar a noção inicial de uma união sob leis de virtude em mais outros dois domínios. Daí que a comunidade ética também foi definida nos termos de um povo de Deus sob leis de virtude e, por último, nos termos de uma igreja. O desdobramento do conceito de comunidade ética, cabe ainda dizer, não diz respeito a uma negação do que anteriormente havia sido definido, mas a uma agregação de informações ou momentos argumentativos apresentados no sentido de melhor traduzir o que Kant pretende explicitar quando se vale dessa noção. A tese tem, enfim, por um lado, o objetivo de reconstruir o desdobramento do conceito de comunidade ética e, por outro, identificar as necessidades argumentativas que levaram Kant a acrescentar mais dois estágios de compreensão para tal conceito. / This thesis aims at investigating the concept of ethical community, topic developed by Kant in the third part of the work Religion within the boundaries of mere reason. Such an investigation is directed towards approaching what we call the unfolding of the concept of ethical community. Kant, it must be said, does not use or point explicitly to something like a conceptual unfolding of the notion of ethical community. Indeed, his argumentation allows such an assessment to be drawn, since there is, related to the notion of ethical community, a visible overlap of definitions. Initially, ethical community is defined in terms of a union of men under laws of virtue. This basic definition is imposed in view of what Kant names as the ethical state of nature, a state of moral corruption which is presented under the jurisdiction of collectivity. Although this concept of ethical community (as a union under the laws of virtue) supplies the initial need of thinking about an antagonistic condition to the ethical state of nature, the concept, alone, does not sustain itself when Kant intends to give it more intelligibility. In view of the argumentative needs that are imposed, concerning clarity or completeness, Kant was led to deploy the initial notion of a union under the laws of virtue into two other domains. Thus, ethical community was also defined in terms of a people of God under the laws of virtue and, at last, in terms of a church. The unfolding of the concept of ethical community is not concerned with a negation of what had previously been defined, but with an aggregation of information or argumentative moments presented to better translate what Kant intended to make explicit when employing this notion. To sum up, the thesis, on the one hand, has the objective of reconstructing the unfolding of the concept of ethical community and, on the other hand, of identifying the argumentative needs which led Kant to add more stages of comprehension to this concept.
