In media and social media we can see different types of body ideals. Research has shown it can lead to anxiety and psychological issues. The purpose of this study is to research how body ideals are represented and talked about in two teaching aids for physical education in Sweden's upper secondary school. A discourse analysis through Fairclough navigated the teaching aids and their discourse about body ideals. This study found that both of the two teaching aids represented two discourses. Both teaching aids had elements which followed the writings of Sweden's national agency of education and their educational purpose about body ideals. However we could also see elements that followed the stereotypical discourse about body ideals which also can be seen on social media. The teaching aids and the teachers using them need to be aware of what pictures and writings can represent to our students. The body is a sensitive subject and we may need to think more about that when writing teaching aids and using them as a teacher. Physical education should be critical about body ideals and stereotypes and so should also the teaching aids.
