Before deciding on what subject we would choose for our essay, we discussed the importance of education and the value of being a part of a society and the difference between immigrants and the natives in the academic world and context. We understood that there were so much more to it, and we got curious and eager to find out more. The purpose with our essay is with help of literature and theories examine five different strangers that have or is doing their journey through classes. What is a class-traveller? A class traveller is someone that experience going from a certain class and moves on to a “higher, lower or different” class. To make this essay more interesting for ourselves and you readers, we decided to go back to or discussion on the importance of immigrants taking a part of the changing society and therefore we decided to put focus on immigrants that chooses to study at a university or higher studies. The interesting part is that these individuals we are going to meet have been/are a part of two worlds or cultures. Our focus will therefor be the experience of living or being a part of two cultures. The questions we asked ourselves and our informants are, how has the students lives changed since the start of their higher education? Have their relationships with friends, family changed?
