Bakgrund: Palliativ vård i livets slutskede syftar till att lindra lidandet hos patienter och erhålla en god livskvalité. Sjuksköterskors roll inom palliativ vård är symtomlindring, erbjuda emotionellt stöd till patienter och närstående samt medföra vårdkvalité på bästa möjliga sätt. I tidigare forskning nämner patienter och närstående att brister i kommunikation och stöd inom palliativ vård påverkar negativt på vårdkvaliteten som ges av sjuksköterskor. Syfte: Att kartlägga sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter i livets slutskede. Metod: En allmän litteraturöversikt genomfördes på totalt 11 artiklar som bestod av både kvalitativ och kvantitativ samt mixad metod. Resultat: Resultatet delades in i tre kategorier som identifierade sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av palliativ vård gällande behov, brister och utmaningar samt att möta lidandet. Sjuksköterskor erfor att deras kunskap om palliativ vård var otillräcklig, och därmed uppstod det brister i vårdkvalitén och kommunikation. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor som arbetar i livets slutskede uppger att brist på kunskap och stöd kring palliativ vård ger även upphov till konflikter med patienter och närstående. Även med dessa brister försöker sjuksköterskor att med hjälp av resurser som är tillgängliga erbjuda en god livskvalité i livets slutskede. / Background: Palliative care at the end of life aims to alleviate the suffering of patients and obtain a good quality of life. Nurses' role in palliative care is to relieve symptoms, offer emotional support to patients and relatives, and bring care quality in the best possible way. In previous research, patients and relatives mention that deficiencies in communication and support in palliative care negatively affect the quality of care provided by nurses. Purpose: To map nurses' experiences of caring for patients at the end of life. Method: A general literature review was conducted on a total of 11 articles consisting of both qualitative and quantitative and mixed methods. Results: The results were divided into three categories that identified nurses' experiences of palliative care regarding needs, shortcomings and challenges and facing suffering. Nurses felt that their knowledge of palliative care was insufficient, and thus there were deficiencies in the quality of care and communication. Conclusion: Nurses who work at the end-of-life state that a lack of knowledge and support regarding palliative care also gives rise to conflicts with patients and relatives. Even with these shortcomings, nurses try to use the resources that are available to offer a good quality of life at the end of life.
