Diskursers sammandrabbning : Barn och vuxnas gestaltning utifrån fem bilderböckers ikonotext

The aim of this essay is to distinguish power-relations between children and adult characters in five different pictures books. The main part of the books has been selected from the Stockholm’s stadsbibliotek list over the most frequently checked out pictures books during the years 2014- 2016. The pictures books have a range between the years 1910 to 2011, and they have all been read on their original language - Swedish. All books except for one has been written and illustrated by the same person – to use consistency in the analysis. Foucault’s discourse theory has been used to search for prominent power-discourse within the picture books iconotext. The results and analyse of this study are presented in themes: “Children reproducing”, “Adults give lecture” and “Children’s fantasies”. These themes are produced to give answers to this essays purpose and research questions. When it comes to study power-relations, the results show certain recurrent consistency within the main parts of the pictures books. The adult figuration in the pictures books, shows significance to the story’s plot, as well as the character development of the fictive children.
