Purpose of the paper was to determine factors for enhancement of students’ physical activity in Kaunas comprehensive schools.
The following main three tasks were set:
1. To analyze factors for enhancement of students’ physical activity in Kaunas comprehensive schools after school.
2. To determine importance of physical education subject in enhancement of students’ physical activity during physical education lessons.
3. To investigate status of health education subject in Kaunas comprehensive schools.
Research contingent: 57 head assistants for education, health educators and physical education teachers of Kaunas comprehensive schools were interviewed.
Research methods were as follows:
1. Scientific literature analysis;
2. Questionnaire interview;
3. Questionnaire data analysis through MS Excel software;
Conclusions:
1. Kaunas comprehensive schools have traditions that induce students to involve in such physical activity that would continue after school graduation: sports games of schools, sports feasts (81.0 per cent) and active work of sports coteries (72.8 per cent). Schools of Kaunas city take part in various events organized by municipality and also in competitions among schools. According to majority of respondents there was safe physical and social environment formed at their schools that proved them safe and joyful physical activity.
