The purpose off this case study is to investigate to what extent and with what strategies Växjö municipality works to achieve a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions within the transport sector. Investigating the development of muncipal`s renewable-energy work for car and bus traffic via the establishment of charging infrastructure is a secondary purpose. For collecting data a qualitative method has been used throughout interviews.  The results of this case study shows that Växjö municipality works, through the sustainability program "Sustainability Växjö 2030" to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sector. The program shows the way for the green work to be executed in the municipalities operations, which have the tools required to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sector. The sustainability program "Sustainability Växjö 2030" permeates a long-term mindset that enables Växjö municipality to work towards a green society. "Sustainability Växjö 2030" is thus the municipalities main strategy that makes it possible to conduct green work in practice.  Växjö municipality works in many ways to ensure that charging infrastructure can be implemented in car and bus traffic. That they are prompting the business sector and private community to build charging infrastructure for cars demonstrates this.
