Por tradição inventada, entende-se um conjunto de práticas de natureza
ritual ou simbólica que expressam filiação com a comunidade. Refere-se ao
conjunto de práticas encenadas em festas de cunho religioso ou civil. É
compreendida como momentos de recriação das experiências em comunidade pela
repetição do passado.
As narrativas em negociação se referem aos enunciados articulados
historicamente por objetivos híbridos e pela emergência de prioridades com outros
membros da comunidade: sobreposições e deslocamentos de significados
concorrentes das estratégias de representação e legitimidade cultural.
Em Salvador, entre as muitas possibilidades, o presente estudo se ocupa da
articulação entre as narrativas de etnicidade negra (associações exclusivas) e de
negritude (associações não-exclusivas). Por associações exclusivas, entende-se
todo tipo de obrigação positiva ou negativa em temos étnicos. Por sua vez, as
associações não-exclusivas podem ser compreendidas como estilos de vida
mundialmente difundidos.
A recente construção da identidade baiana é tomada por sucessivas
negociações entre as narrativas em torno da “cultura negra”, entendendo a
produção narrativa como descontínua e os significados propiciados por uma
estrutura da interação referendada pela negociação. This research shows the case of the invention of the traditions in Salvador.
Invented tradition is taken to mean a set of practices of a ritual or symbolic nature
which expresses affiliation with the community. It refers to the set of practices performed in
celebrations of a religious or civilian character and encompasses moments in which
communal experiences are recreated by the repetition of the past.
The narratives in negotiation refer to the statements historically articulated by hybrid
objectives and by the emergence of priorities together with the other members of the
community: overlaps and displacements of meanings rivalling with strategies of
representation and cultural legitimacy.
By focusing Salvador, among many other possibilities, this study deals with the
relationship between the narratives of black ethnicity (exclusive associations) and of
blackness (non-exclusive associations). Exclusive associations are taken to mean any kind of
positive or negative obligation in terms of ethnicity. No-exclusive associations, on the other
hand, can be understood as lifestyles globally spread.
The recent construction of the Bahianian identity is assumed to be a succession of
negotiations among narratives about the "black culture", in which the narrative production is
seen as discontinuous and the meanings are supported by a structure of interaction legitimated
