Previous issue date: 2012-12-28 / Michel Foucault has engaged himself to study the subject and truth. For a task of this
magnitude, he has used archeology, genealogy and ethics, producing a work of great value to
the human sciences. This work detaches because it relates knowledge, power and self-care to
processes of subjectivity and constitution of truth and the subject. It has also covered
transversely philosophy, history, medicine, biology, economics, politics, legal forms,
humanities, thus overlaying virtually all fields of knowledge. This is a study about the subject,
the subjectivity, forms of subjectivity, of subjection and its repercussions on education of
individuals. Is there a real subject incarnated in man, who is the subject in late Foucault's
texts? That is the question that guides this research and invite to a dive, a deep immersion in
the works of this author. By the comprehension and interpretation of texts studied, it sought to
demonstrate the complexity of this important issue to education, society and culture, and
ultimately to the man who lives, works and speaks. Foucault discusses the following
questions: what means to the thought to have a history; what is to the subject to have a truth
linked to knowledge and power, which cannot deny because he needs them; what is to the
man to recognize himself as a man of desire, full, who becomes fragmented by his passions,
surrenders and separates himself completely by love and through his own anxieties
demonstrates that, despite the finiteness and the inexorable totalities of his existence, still
seeks to know what he, as man, is. This question that arises as a result of this study, also
provides answers that change, transform, as truth itself and the own notion of the subject, due
to circumstances inscribed in history. / Michel Foucault dedicou-se a estudar o sujeito e a verdade. Para uma tarefa dessa grandeza,
serviu-se da arqueologia, da genealogia e da ética, produzindo uma obra de grande valor para
as ciências humanas. Esta se destaca por relacionar saberes, poderes e cuidado de si aos
processos de subjetivação e constituição da verdade e do sujeito. Abarcou, transversalmente, a
filosofia, história, medicina, biologia, economia, política, as formas jurídicas, ciências
humanas, cobrindo, assim, praticamente todos os campos do saber. Este trabalho é um estudo
sobre o sujeito, a subjetividade, as formas de subjetivação, de sujeição e suas repercussões
sobre a educação dos indivíduos. Existirá um sujeito real encarnado no homem, que é o
sujeito nos textos tardios de Foucault? É esta a pergunta que orienta esta pesquisa e convida a
um mergulho, uma imersão profunda nas obras deste autor. Pela compreensão e interpretação
dos textos estudados, procura-se demonstrar a complexidade dessa questão importante para a
educação, a sociedade, a cultura e, fundamentalmente, para o homem que vive, fala e trabalha.
Foucault problematiza as seguintes questões: o que é para o pensamento ter uma história; o
que é para o sujeito ter uma verdade ligada aos saberes e poderes, aos quais não pode negar
porque deles necessita; o que é para o homem reconhecer-se como homem de desejo, ser
desejante que se sente inteiro e que se fragmenta por suas paixões, que se entrega totalmente e
se separa pelo amor e que, através de suas inquietações, demonstra que, apesar da finitude e
das totalidades inexoráveis de sua existência, ainda procura saber o que ele, homem, é. Essa
indagação que surge como resultado principal deste estudo propicia também respostas que se
modificam, se transformam, assim como a própria verdade e a própria noção de sujeito, por
conta de circunstâncias inscritas na história.
