O sistema educacional ao longo dos anos vem se modificando a partir de ações técnico-administrativas em busca de um alicerce concreto de desenvolvimento político e social. A democratização e a gestão participativa têm sido um referencial no processo de organização e reorganização do
sistema de ensino, favorecendo a implantação de colegiados com o objetivo de permitir uma maior interlocução e incentivo à participação e envolvimento de todos aqueles que fazem parte do cotidiano da escola. Mediante as leis que regem o sistema educacional e tendo como referência alguns teóricos que pesquisam essa questão, o presente estudo pretendeu analisar o papel do Colegiado Escolar no Colégio Estadual José Malta Maia, localizado no município de Jiquiriçá/BA, buscando investigar as características da gestão na referida unidade, bem como seu processo de tomada de decisão, aplicação de
recursos financeiros e a participação de segmentos da comunidade escolar nesta realidade. / Over the years the educational system has been changing from technicaladministrative actions in search of a concrete foundation of social and political development. The democratization and participatory management has been a
benchmark in the process of organization and reorganization of the educational system favoring the establishment of school councils in order to allow greater interaction and encourage the participation and involvement of all those who are part of the school daily life. By the laws governing the educational system and with reference to some theoretical research this question, this study sought to examine the role of the School Council in José Malta Maia State College,
located in Jiquiriçá / BA, seeking to investigate the characteristics of management in the mentioned unit as well its decision-making process, application of financial resources and the participation of segments of the school community in this reality.
