Previous issue date: 2016-02-29 / O presente estudo objetivou analisar as contribui??es proporcionadas pela realiza??o da Copa do Mundo FIFA 2014 para o destino tur?stico Natal/RN. Para isso, analisou-se a efetividade das a??es do poder p?blico para dotar o destino de infraestrutura adequada ao porte do evento; avaliou-se de que forma as interven??es do Estado contribu?ram para a reestrutura??o dos espa?os urbanos com fins tur?sticos; identificou-se quais foram os investimentos realizados pelo trade tur?stico em fun??o do megaevento da FIFA; assim como se identificaram as a??es de qualifica??o profissional na ?rea de turismo que foram promovidas para atender ? demanda da Copa. Dessa forma, a pesquisa justifica-se por preencher uma lacuna na pesquisa em turismo no que se refere ? investiga??o de como ocorreram os investimentos empreendidos pelo Estado e pela iniciativa privada para realiza??o do megaevento esportivo da FIFA em Natal, mostrando quais os rebatimentos para a cidade, sua popula??o e o turismo. Para tanto, o estudo teve uma abordagem qualitativa, sendo de car?ter descritivo-explorat?rio. Como instrumento de coleta utilizou-se a aplica??o de roteiros de entrevistas semiestruturados, tendo como popula??o do estudo atores da iniciativa privada e representantes de ?rg?os p?blicos, al?m da aprecia??o de dados secund?rios. Para a aprecia??o dos dados, fez-se uso do m?todo de an?lise de conte?do e documental baseando-se na categoriza??o dos mesmos. Ao fim, foi poss?vel perceber que a Copa do Mundo da FIFA 2014 levou o Estado a investir um grande montante de recursos p?blicos em mobilidade, transportes e turismo, mas que todas as interven??es tinham como objetivo a realiza??o dos jogos, independente do bem que esses investimentos poderiam trazer para a popula??o. Ocorreu uma concentra??o espacial das a??es planejadas. No que se refere ao turismo, entendeu-se que o megaevento esportivo proporcionou a reorganiza??o da atividade na capital potiguar, principalmente na melhoria da infraestrutura de sua orla; ampliou o n?mero de leitos com a implanta??o de novos hot?is e contribuiu para o aumento da m?o de obra qualificada, na medida em que cursos de capacita??o profissional em turismo foram ofertados. Apesar da melhoria dos espa?os para fins tur?sticos, at? ent?o n?o ? poss?vel dimensionar se os investimentos realizados em fun??o do evento proporcionar?o o retorno que os justifique. / The presented study aimed to analyze the contributions provided by the holding of
the FIFA World Cup 2014 for Natal/RN touristic destinations in Natal/RN. For that, it
was analyzed the effectiveness of public management actions to provide a fitting
infrastructure worthy of the event; it was measured which ways of State intervention
contributed to the restructuring of urban places with touristic potential; it was
identified which were the investments made by the touristic trade due to FIFA mega
event; and which actions to professional qualification for the touristic sector that were
promoted to meet the World Cup demand. Thus, the research justifies itself for filling
a blank in the research about tourism when it comes to the investigation of how
occurred the investments made by the State and the private initiative to the holding of
the sportive FIFA mega event in Natal, showing its benefits to the city, its population
and tourism. Therefore, the study had a qualitative approach, having a descriptiveexploratory
character. As data collection instrument a semi structured interview
schedule was developed, having as the study population elements in the private
initiative and public organs members, besides secondary data usage. For this
purpose, the use of content and documental analysis method was made based on
data categorization. In the end, it was possible to realize that the FIFA World Cup
2014 made the State to invest a great amount of public resources in mobility,
transport and tourism, which surpassed the amount of one billion reais, but all the
interventions had as objective the making of the matches, despite the welfare these
investments could have brought to the population. A local concentration of planned
actions has happened. About tourism, it was concluded that the sportive mega event
provided a reorganization of the activity in Rio Grande do Norte capital, mainly in the
improvement of the beaches infrastructure; the increase of hotel rooms with the
opening of new hotels and contributed with the increase of qualified hand work, in the
same rhythm that courses for professional capacitation in tourism were offered.
Besides the improvement of the places for touristic purposes, so far it is not possible
to measure if the investments made for holding of the event will provide a feedback
that justifies them.
