This study tried to know the results of an experience with the teacher s education that occurs continually. This kind of education is carried out in the Colégio Estadual Tancredo Neves an elementary school from the state public service of Santa Maria. The study focused the analysis of teacher s opinion about the program of education that occurs continually as well as about the improvements of school practice and quality of teaching. The school offers this program and the study was developed from the diagnosis done by the school. According to the teachers and board of directors statements the indicators of satisfaction about activities that were being developed in this school were considered very difficult. It is important to remember that case study was the method of investigation used whose individuals were teachers and the board of directors. Through semi-structured interviews the individuals had the opportunity to demonstrate their opinions about questions related to the program of education that occurs continually, about their involvement with the program and its importance to the improvement of teaching and school practice. In this way, teachers could do an auto-evaluation and an evaluation of conditions in which they teach as well as to evaluate the results reached in the body of indicators of teaching quality and teacher s work satisfaction. The reached results were encouraging because it was possible not only to signify this research in the pedagogic field but also to understand that school can and must be an excellent space of reflection and a permanent education for teachers. / Este estudo procurou conhecer os resultados da experiência com a formação continuada de professores, realizada pelo Colégio Estadual Tancredo Neves escola de ensino fundamental da rede pública estadual de Santa Maria-RS , e voltou-se à análise das opiniões dos docentes acerca do programa de formação continuada oferecido pela escola e a seus resultados sobre a melhoria da prática escolar e da qualidade do ensino. O estudo se desenvolveu a partir do diagnóstico, realizado pela escola, dos indicadores de satisfação sobre as atividades que estavam sendo desenvolvidas pelo estabelecimento de ensino, estas se encontravam em condições muito críticas, conforme depoimentos dos professores e da direção. Vale lembrar que o método de investigação utilizado foi o estudo de caso, cujos sujeitos foram os professores e a direção da escola. Por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas, os sujeitos tiveram a oportunidade de manifestar suas opiniões sobre as questões relacionadas ao programa de formação continuada da escola, sobre o seu envolvimento com o programa e a importância deste para melhoria da prática escolar e do ensino. Dessa forma, os professores puderam fazer uma auto-avaliação e uma avaliação das condições em que realizam seu trabalho docente e, também, puderam avaliar os resultados alcançados no conjunto dos indicadores de qualidade do ensino e de satisfação do trabalho docente. Os resultados alcançados foram animadores, uma vez que foi possível não só significar essa pesquisa no campo pedagógico, mas também entender que a escola pode e deve ser um excelente espaço de reflexão e de formação permanente para professores.
