Buscamos investigar a timidez, compreendendo-a como um processo Histórico-Cultural que se constitui como síntese de múltiplas determinações e relações sociais. Entendemos a timidez como um processo que acontece em contextos, os quais os indivíduos precisam se comunicar e encontram dificuldades, pois sentem-se tímidos/intimidados diante de tais contextos e determinadas situações. Preocupados com essa problematica e suas implicações na vida dos indivíduos na escola, embasamos este trabalho nos pressupostos da teoria Histórico-Cultural, a fim de compreender esse processo, buscando superar as discussões que naturalizam as crianças tímidas. Por esta razão, afirmamos que a linguagem e as relações sociais, assim como a apropriação dos objetos da cultura, são imprescindíveis para o desenvolvimento e humanização dos indivíduos na escola e, em especial, junto aos indivíduos que vivenciam processos de timidez. Na direção do enfrentamento dessa questão, a partir de um trabalho de intervenção na escola, foram realizadas observações sistemáticas das relações sociais (reunião de professores, sala de aula, quadra e pátio), assim como utilizados dos dados de observação decorrentes das intervenções realizadas pelo GEIPEE (Grupo de Estudos, Intervenção e Pesquisa em Educação Escolar), dentre outras situações vivenciadas na escola. Discutimos neste trabalho o quanto as situações de intimidação presentes no interior da escola podem resultar em vivências constituídas de emoções como o medo e a vergonha, e o quanto tais situações podem constituir a personalidade de indivíduos tímidos/intimidados / This research aimed to develop critical reflections on the reality of individuals who present behaviors with shy characteristic in school. We look for investigate shyness, understanding it as a Historic-Cultural process that constitutes a synthesis of multiple determinations and social relations. We understand shyness as a process that occurs in contexts which individuals need to communicate and find it difficult because they feel shy / intimidated of such contexts and certain situations. Concerned with this problematic and its implications on the scholar individuals lifes, embasamos this work on the assumptions of the theory-Cultural History in order to understand this process, seeking to overcome the discussions that naturalize children who exhibit characteristics shy. For this reason, we say that the language and social relations, as well as the appropriation of objects of culture, are essential for development and humanization of individuals in the school and in particular with individuals who experience shyness processes. Toward dealing with this question, from an intervention in school, were conducted systematic observations of social relations (teacher conference, classroom, court and patio), used as observation data resulting from interventions by GEIPEE (Study Group, Intervention and Research in school Education), among other situations experienced in school. We discuss in this paper how the present situations of intimidation within the school may result in experiences consist of emotions such as fear and shame, and how such situations can built personalities shy / intimidated
