______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / In the last years, bullying has been the subject of study throughout the world by many researchers concerned about the extent of its quickly and comprehensively spreading. From the veiled form of violence among the school walls to the many exposures in the global Internet network, such kind of violence has been identified as a cause of fatalities increasingly affecting young people around the world. Aiming to investigate the perception of high school students about bullying, with the support of videos as a way of reflection, reassessment and development, and also seeking mediation opportunities from this social and cultural experience, this research is guided by the viewpoint of a hundred and forty-two young students enrolled in a public school in Distrito Federal, Brazil. Their answers, drawn from their social and educational realities, exposed a close experience of such violence, as their perceptions and thoughts, expressed in ideas and concepts of whom, despite the insertion in a fragile environment, can carry expressions of nonconformist and renovating awareness.

January 2014 (has links)
Abstract: Violence, multifaceted and socially recurring phenomenon, long raided the school walls. There are several reports of outbreaks of violence in school ranging from the symbolic, verbal to physical violence. Thus, this study aims to understand and analyze what teachers think of the 6th year of elementary school, two public schools in the city of Maringá (PR), located in different neighborhoods with different histories and violence on school violence and the development of human morality and their possible relationships. The proposal to develop this work according to the contributions of the theory of moral development has as its foundation the methodology of hermeneutic qualitative nature. In qualitative research the word hermeneutics refers to the science of qualitative interpretation of what is said. Unlike quantitative proposals, this type of research that most interests the investigator is in-depth analysis of the studied phenomenon. As a tool for data collection used the semi-structured interview. In the first chapter, we conducted a brief discussion about violence in school discipline, bullying, and discuss the relationship between family and school. The next chapter presents the moral theory of Piaget (1932/1994), mainly rescuing concepts from his book "moral judgment in children" and the theory Kohlberg (1992). Around the psychology of human morality, we also discuss what is moral and ethical to La Taille (2006), briefly cite some conceptions of morality and ethics today and resumed some concepts of philosophy, as Kant (1785/2005) in "Metaphysics of customs". In the third chapter, we present the possible relationships between psychology and morality of violence in school, which is the focus of this study. In the fourth chapter we describe the methodology and chapter five we present our results and analysis. Finally, we weave our final considerations. We conclude that theories of moral... / Mestre

This is a cross-sectional study based on school, which aims to verify correlation between bullying among schoolchildren and overweight, obesity, personal, socioeconomic and demographic factors. Bullying was researched trough application of psychometric scale based on Item Response Theory - IRT. Results showed that 13,2% of the sample of students were bullying victims. Among variables, personal factors, such as being discriminated for being fat, tall, good looking and others, presented higher prevalances of victimization, and thus more probabilities for involvement, as victim, on different bullying intensities, for students of both genders. Factors such as race/skin color and being thin did not showed influence after adjustment by other variables both in males and females. Being frequently discriminated about small height or for being ugly remained correlated with peer victimization only for females. Main contributions of this research may be adapted for education and health policies and practices as well as guide future studies on the subject.

_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Nowadays, physical and psychological violence best known as bullying are increasingly observed among students within schools. Bullying takes place when a student is repeatedly the target of negative actions by a fellow student or students. This research aims at investigating the ideas, values, beliefs and typical actions concerning the phenomenon of bullying in the narratives of children, teachers and the school staff within the context of a public school in the city of Brasilia. Individual interviews were carried out with 19 students, seven staff members, and three 5th grade teachers. In addition to the interviews, we observed school everyday activities for 40 hours, particularly those which are part of the “Virtue” Project, developed by the educational counselor to prevent bullying. Results show that the “Virtue” Project, in fact, meant no more than a few lectures on rules given by the educational counselor, and that adults present a substantial difficulty to define concepts such as peace, violence, as well as to deal with the complexity typical of social relationships among children. They also show their difficulties regarding how to promote a culture of peace in ways more effective than simple oral unidirectional transmission of rules and punishments. Children pointed at the existence of bullying in the school, and suggested forms of bullying prevention and resolution. In sum, if schools indeed want to take responsibility for educating for peace and preventing bullying, they need to open actual possibilities of listening to the students, and with their cooperation, develop joint strategies aiming at interpersonal respect in everyday life experience, adults and children working together to promote diversity inclusion, and the deconstruction of prejudices, including the families’ participation along this process.
