Previous issue date: 2006-03-02 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study approaches the linguistic phenomenon, ethnic and cultural of languages in
contact social linguistic context of the Municipal district of Missal, in the Extreme-West of
the State of Paraná. This is an ethicnografic study based social linguistic that presents a
situation of linguistic minority with a high degree of bilingualism, German/Portuguese. In that
context based in the participants' depositions, analysis of historical and current material, we
will make a study of the language, culture and the identity participants research. Missal has as
main characteristic Its population in most formed by german descendants. The objective of
this work is to do a study of the languages situation in contact, German/Portuguese and the
linked culture of the these languages, in the social linguist context of Missal, not a specific
analysis of the German language, but of the social and culture practices of the residents',
where the language and the German culture are present. The researched group presented a
significant index of German use in the communications. The study showed that the cultural
acts influence and they promote the propagation of the use of the German language. We
proved, starting from the collected data and analysis done that the local identity is structured
starting from the language and culture that involves her. / Este estudo aborda o fenômeno lingüístico, étnico e cultural de línguas em contato no
contexto sociolingüístico do Município de Missal, no Extremo-Oeste do Estado do Paraná.
Este é um estudo etnográfico com base na sociolingüística que apresenta uma situação de
minoria lingüística com um alto grau de bilingüismo alemão/português. Nesse contexto com
base em depoimentos dos participantes, análise de material histórico e atual, faremos um
estudo da língua, cultura e identidade dos participantes da pesquisa.. Missal tem como
característica principal sua população na maioria formada por descendentes alemães. O
objetivo deste trabalho é fazer um estudo da situação de línguas em contato, alemão/português
e da cultura ligada a estas línguas, no contexto sociolingüístico de Missal, não uma análise
específica da língua alemã, mas sim das práticas sociais e culturais destes moradores, onde a
língua e a cultura alemã estão presentes. O grupo pesquisado apresentou um índice
significativo de uso do alemão nas comunicações. O estudo mostrou que os atos culturais
influenciam e promovem a propagação do uso da língua alemã. Comprovamos, a partir dos
dados coletados e análises feitas que a identidade local se estrutura a partir da língua e cultura
que a envolve.
