Previous issue date: 2016-12-08 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Five articles derived from the Doctoral Degree: three theoretical and two empirical. The first one, "Multiple definitions of smokers and diagnosis of smoking: a systematic review", reviewed the scientific production that deals with definitions of smokers and other related dimensions. The second article, "Crossing the cloud of smoke: is smoking a decision?" is a narrative review of the literature that concluded smoking is a decision. "Sparks of a diagnosis: being a smoker is not synonymous with being a tobacco addict" is a thematic essay that defends the thesis that smoker is not synonymous with being chemically dependent of tobacco. The first empirical study, "Delay Discounting, executive functions and social-demographic profile of tobacco smokers," investigated the DD executive functions and social-demographic profile of two groups of smokers: 35 Smoking Cessation Group Waiting List Smokers (FLE) and 35 Smokers Not Seeking Treatment to Stop Smoking (FNBT). The DD was larger in the FLE group. Finally, the second empirical article was the study ?Therapeutic Effects of Interventions about the Delay Discounting of Tobacco Smokers,? which investigated the evidences of therapeutic effect in interventions about the Attention, Memory and Executive Functions in two groups of smokers (35 FLE and 35 FNBT) as a main action to change the manner that these individuals make decisions.). The DD, the frequency of smoking behavior and the level of nicotinic dependency were reduced and executive functions of smokers of 20 smokers who adopted the Cognitive Training were improved (05 FLE and 15 FNBT). / Cinco artigos foram gerados ao longo do Doutorado: tr?s te?ricos e dois emp?ricos. O primeiro, ?M?ltiplas defini??es de ser fumante e diagn?stico de tabagismo: uma revis?o sistem?tica?, revisou a produ??o cient?fica que tratava das defini??es de ser fumante. O segundo, ?Atravessando a nuvem de fuma?a: fumar ? uma decis?o??, ? uma revis?o narrativa da literatura que concluiu que fumar ? uma decis?o. ?Fagulhas de um diagn?stico: ser fumante n?o ? sin?nimo de ser dependente qu?mico de tabaco?, ? um ensaio tem?tico que defende a tese de que fumante n?o ? sin?nimo de ser dependente qu?mico de tabaco. O primeiro estudo emp?rico, ?Desvaloriza??o pelo atraso, fun??es executivas e perfil social-demogr?fico de fumantes de tabaco?, investigou a desvaloriza??o pelo atraso (DA), as fun??es executivas e o perfil social-demogr?fico de dois grupos: 35 Fumantes de Lista de Espera de Grupos de Cessa??o de Tabagismo (FLE) e 35 Fumantes que N?o estavam em Busca de Tratamento para parar de Fumar (FNBT). A DA foi maior no grupo FLE. Finalmente, o segundo artigo emp?rico foi o estudo ?Efeitos Terap?uticos de Interven??es sobre a Desvaloriza??o pelo Atraso de Fumantes de Tabaco?, que investigou as evid?ncias de efeito terap?utico de interven??es sobre a Aten??o, a Mem?ria e as Fun??es Executivas em dois grupos (35 FLE e 35 FNBT) como a??o central para a mudan?a na forma como estes tomam decis?es. Houve uma redu??o da DA, da frequ?ncia do comportamento de fumar e do n?vel de depend?ncia nicot?nica, al?m de uma melhora das fun??es executivas, dos 20 fumantes que aderiram ao Treino Cognitivo (05 FLE e 15 FNBT).
