Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera kategorin specialiserade markstridsförbandinom ramen för svensk säkerhetspolitik, i förhållande till en europeisk militär kapacitet. Jag haranalyserat texter avseende svensk militärstrategi, komplexitet i militära operationer, brister inomden europeiska säkerhets- och försvarspolitiken. Dessutom har jag övergripande jämfört svenskamed några europeiska länders stridskraftsutformning. För att uppnå syftet i uppsatsen har jagformulerat fyra frågeställningar.1. Vilken betydelse kan specialiserade markstridsförband tillmätas för de militärstrategiskamålen?2. Vilken roll kan specialiserade markstridsförband anta inom ramen för Försvarsmaktensdeltagande i internationella insatser?3. Vilken roll har svenska specialiserade markstridsförband i ett jämförande europeisktstridskraftsperspektiv?4. Vilken roll har specialiserade markstridskrafter i termer av förmågor och styrkor motbakgrund av brister och behov i den europeisk säkerhets- och försvarspolitiken?Undersökningen visar på att Försvarsmaktens specialiserade markstridsförband bör ges en merframträdande roll i svensk militärstrategi. De bidrar väsentligt till snabbinsatsförmåga ochuthållighet samt inte minst överbryggar klyftan mellan å ena sidan specialoperationsförband ochå andra sidan manöverförband, i ett svenskt och europeiskt sammanhang. / The aim of this essay has been to study a special category of ground forces, designatedSpecialised Ground Forces, in the context of a Swedish security policy with a focus onmatters outside Sweden’s borders, yet within a European context. To fulfil the aim newmilitary strategy challenges are examined. The following questions are posed:1. What significance could the Specialised Ground Forces be assigned to achieve in view ofthe objectives of Swedish military strategic?2. What role can the Specialised Ground Forces assume within the broader participation ofSwedish Armed Forces in international operations?3. What role can the Specialised Ground Forces have when compared to equivalentEuropean forces?4. What role could the Specialised Ground Forces play against the backdrop of deficienciesand needs related to the European Security and Defence Policy deficiencies when itcomes to military capability and forces?I have studied texts and analysed the objectives of Swedish military strategy, the complexityof today’s military operations and the deficiencies of European Security and Defence Policyconcerning military capability and forces have been studied and analysed. Furthermore,French, British, Finnish and Norwegian Armed Forces’ general structures have beencompared to detect both similarities and differences.The overall conclusion is that the Specialised Ground Forces could be given a moreprominent position within Swedish military strategy.
