Ledtidsreduktion vid ACG Nyström / Lead time reduction at ACG Nyström

A report has been made at a company in Borås at a company called ACG Nyström. Thecompany is today international and is marketing advanced equipment, systems and furthereducation to the manufacturing industry. A part of ACG Nyström’s production is a machinethey call Unimat. ACG Nyström doesn’t just stand for the actual production of the machine, but also for assembling and installation of the machine at the final customer. The companyalso offers service. The purpose of this task is to create a more flexible production by reducing the lead time ofthe machine Unimat. This flexible production is not a customer demand, but an easier way forACG Nyström to adept to customers’ inability to make up their minds. It’s a problem forACG Nyström when the customer suddenly wants to make some changes in their order in themiddle of the creation of a machine. The report is divided into four phases. The first phase contains the purpose of the work andthe works delimitation. The next phase contains a literature study which is followed by astudy of the situation at the company today, mapping and a company analyze. The last phasecontains improvement proposals and conclusions. To achieve the goals with this examination work, a collecting of literature and studying hasbeen made. The literature study is used as background knowledge for the report’s problemdescription. Discussions about the current situation at the company and improvementproposals are also based on these literature studies. The literature study is general anddiscusses lead time, steering principals and how a faster flow can be reached.iiiThe introduction of Lean production would generate many benefits, for example equalizingthe flow, for the company. Lean production is a modern logistical concept that manycompanies and organisation tries to implement and pursue. One of the factors to the long lead time at the company is the complex internaltransportations, for example the transport between operations in the company. This is a factbecause of the size and weight of the models that have to be transported. Further reasons forthe complex internal transportations are that the operation moments have some distancebetween each other. Not only are the models big and heavy, they also have to be transportedfar. To develop nearness between the operations, a new layout has been created in the currentproduction area. / Uppsatsnivå: C
