AbstractIn this thesis, Sex trafficking as a security issue- an idea analysis of the Swedish government’sand the EU’s stance and if they adopt a traditional or feministic approach by me AmandaTörnblom, the aim is to examine the Swedish government’s and the EU’s stance on thematter. The purpose is furthermore to clarify if they adopt a traditional or feminist approach tosex trafficking as a security issue. The main question of issue is therefore “Do the Swedishgovernment and the EU adopt a traditional or feminist approach to sex trafficking as asecurity issue?”. The analysis is made in accordance to Jennifer Lobasz’s theoreticalframework and done trough an idea analysis in order to examine how the Swedishgovernment and EU outline the security referent, security threat and policy focus. Theconclusion of the research is therefore that neither of them assumes a pure traditional orfeminist approach. Their approaches are quite similar: they both express indications of bothapproaches in regards to security threat and policy focus. Regarding the security referent bothof them construct it to the individual although it is unclear the second mentionedsimultaneously construct the state as the referent also.
