Etnicitetens närvaro i vardagen : En studie om etnicitet och identitetsprocesser / The presence of ethnicity in everyday life : A study on ethnicity and identitystudies

The purpose of this study is to understand how young people, who belong to different ethnic groups, perceive their ethnicity and in what way this affects their identity process. This study is based on semi structured interviews with people born to parents with two or multiple different ethnic backgrounds. Researching about people with multiple affiliations contributes to new perspectives regarding how individuals perceive and navigate in a multicultural world. The text discusses the individual's self-view, everyday interactions and the complexity of being in-between cultures. The result shows that by embracing different identities, people form stronger ties and fit into a natural place within different social contexts. This increases understanding of, for example, diversity and intercultural communication. Individuals adopt roles, beliefs and methods, which promotes community and togheterness.
