Bluetooth-USB-adapterModigh, Fredrik, Niva, Jerry January 2013 (has links)
This thesis work had the intention to acoording to the processes of Motion Control develop a prototype of a wireless cable replacer for an existing product, USB I/O. USB I/O is an I/O and data collection unit with a number of in- and outputs. It has in some applications the drawback that it is connected through a USB cable. The idea for the work was to create a unit to connect to USB I/O which has the capability to connect to any existing “Bluetooth dongle” on the market.Three investigations were made. The first was a market investigation to see potential system solutions and to find out any direct competitors. It showed that the existing market did not offer any large number of active similar products. After this, two investigations were made to find suitable components for the prototype. Half way in the thesis it came obvious that whichever Bluetooth module that could be chosen, a Bluetooth profile, HID, was needed and had to be modified in order to use the conventional “Bluetooth dongles”. This would make a great cost or effort in development time than the scope of the thesis work allowed. From this, a decision was made to also include development of an additional unit to connect to the computer side, which then would replace the “dongle”.The thesis resulted in a prototype consisting of two subsystems, however in need of further development, offering partly the intended functionality. The USB I/O could be started up on a computer wirelessly using the system.

Samantha: A Social Location-Based Framework for iOS ApplicationsNewbry, Joe S 01 January 2014 (has links)
One challenge associated with developing location-based social applications for iOS devices is building a framework on top of Apple’s Core Bluetooth Framework to drive user discovery. Many applications on Apple’s App Store use Bluetooth to enable location-based user discovery. These Social Location-Based Frameworks are private and often are lacking. An ideal Social Location-Based Bluetooth Framework would be public, would be responsive while the application is minimized, have a light battery footprint, and securely transfer the necessary data to enable social interaction. Samantha, a Social Location-Based Framework, meets all of these characteristics.
In a Test Application, Samantha took no more than 5 seconds to start up and discover all nearby users. The average discovery time was 3.5 seconds. In addition the battery draw, measured using Apple’s Battery Monitoring Instrument, during testing never exceed 1/20. This means an application running Samantha in the background for a 12-hour period would not significantly drain the battery.
In terms of security, Samantha transfers a Unique User Identifier (UUID) across Bluetooth than contains no sensitive information. This UUID, a string of random characters, contains no personal information and it is only useful because it allows specific identification of a nearby user in a database holding additional information. This two-step process ensures that confidential information is never exposed.
An example application, Ripple, uses Samantha to create a location-based social application and highlights the framework’s intended use.

VNC Service on Bluetooth Wireless NetworkXia, Rui 07 August 2003 (has links)
With characteristics such as small size, low weight and low power consumption, Bluetooth wireless technology provides efficient communication ability for pocket size devices, for which power consumption is critical. Built-in security features may serve as substitute for application level security. Bluetooth Service Discovery Protocol (SDP) provides information of availability and characteristics of services in the RF proximity. In this work, a VNC service is set up for Bluetooth wireless network and performance tests are made. A VNC server provides virtual consoles for VNC clients across different platforms. VNC has little computing power requirement on client side, fitting the profiles of most Bluetooth devices. Access can be limited to a particular window and its children windows; the function of the particular window can be advertised with SDP. The use of VNC is extended from a remote console only to a "platform" for services in general.

transmissão Bluetooth afetou a transmissão IEEE 802.11g.
