Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate Baseband Modeling and ImplementationZou, Lei January 2006 (has links)
<p>The main issue of this thesis is making the behaviour model of Bluetooth EDR (enhanced data rate) baseband signal processing. This Bluetooth baseband project is part of the soft defined radio project at electrical engineering department, Linköping University.</p><p>In this project, both the basic rate and EDR model were built and simulated. The GFSK and π/4 DQPSK digital modulation and demodulation were implemented in C code. The BER was tested to evaluate the demodulation results. Furthermore, the error correction (FEC) and the error checking (HEC,CRC) were also implemented according to the Bluetooth standards. The CRC flag was detected to test the payload demodulation results.</p><p>Especially, GFSK and π/4 DQPSK specifications have to be combined with each other at sample rate of ADC.</p><p>Finally, the basic rate and EDR model were simulated to measure the BER and CRC performance.</p><p>From the simulation results, the receiver filter, synchronization and channel condition were three key points in this Bluetooth EDR system implementation.</p><p>So we get further understanding about the Bluetooth system specification and DSP implementation methods.</p>

Utveckling av mobiltelefonapplikation för kommunikation i ad-hoc nätverk med BluetoothteknikSimberg, Gustav, Viggeborn, Björn January 2005 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this thesis is to develop an application for mobile phones that simplifies communication. The company Doberman wanted to look at possibilities to develop such an application that uses Bluetooth™ technol-ogy to communicate in ad-hoc networks. The aim has been an application to run on mobile phones in which you can send messages and files to other devices and also add a user profile with personal information to share with others. The communication will take place in temporary networks created when Bluetooth enabled devices is in range of each other.</p><p>The market for mobile phones has grown rapidly over the past years and is still growing. There are many differ-ent phone models and it is difficult to find a developer platform that covers many phone models. In the beginning of this thesis an inquiry of different developer platforms has been made. The Java™ platform is supported by most phones but has limitations in accessing functions on the device. The best alternative was Symbian C++ for devices with Symbian OS. This alternative does not have the same limitations as Java and is still supported by relatively many devices. The application was then developed in Symbian C++. There are a number of different versions of Symbian OS and different GUI-platforms that runs on Symbian OS which leads to other issues in the development. We have limited the development of the application to the Series 60 platform for Symbian OS v7.0s. During design and implementation portability to other GUI-platforms has been considered.</p><p>We have tested the application on emulator compatible with Symbian OS v7.0s and Symbian OS v8.0a and found some compatibility problems between the two versions. We have also tested the application on mobile phones and between emulator and the phone with corresponding OS-version no new problems occurred</p>

Undersökning och utformning av ett generellt datainsamlingssystem i LabVIEW / Designing a general program for data-aquisition with LabVIEWEk, Fredrik January 2005 (has links)
This report is the result of a diploma work made at IMT at US in Linköping. The purpose of this piece of work is to investigate the possibility to design a general program for data-acquisition using LabVIEW, suiting different hardwares and connections. Great importance has been attached to communication with serialport, using bluetooth, because different wireless PPG-instruments has been developed parallel to this project. These PPG-circuits uses this type of serialcommunication. Communication with USB, GPIB and analog connection has also been examined and analog communication has been tested practically. But any serious implementation of these types in the LabVIEW-program has not been made. The paper starts with theory where LabVIEW, bluetooth, PPG, different connections and the different PPG-sensors is described concisely. Theory is followed by a"performance-part"where the course of action and the LabVIEW- program is described. The result of the work is an application in LabVIEW for communication with different PPG-sensors, where interface, protocol and file-standard/format has been designed. The program is adapted to prolonged measurements with full duplex. Measurements can be saved into ascii- or binary format, and signals can be studied carefully in graphs.Since only one PPG-sensor is fully made, a test in measurement and acquisition has been made with that sensor only. Ragarding the other PPG-instruments, the communication has been tested in hyperterminal.

Trådlös överföring av styrsignaler / Wireless Control signalsHolmström, Magnus January 2002 (has links)
There can be several reasons to use wireless signal transmission in a industry. Its often used in places where there is very hard ore impossible to use a cable. In this case it’s a basin that’s used for water cleaning that should be controlled wireless. The basin has a cylinder form and all the units that shouldbe controlled rotates in the basin. This makes it hard to use a cable. If a cable should be used the transmission between the rotating units and the control system needs to be connected with a drag contact that can lead to problems in the signal transfer. Now they want to try out the technology fore wireless transmission of the control signals. Today the basin is controlled by old electromechanically equipment that is mounted on the basin, but for better control and supervision of the basin its going to be controlled from a modern control system.

A Dual-Mode Message Delivery System with Time Constrained Paging MechanismCheng, Hsu-Ching 11 September 2012 (has links)
In the thesis, we propose a dual-mode message delivery system with mechanisms of time constrained paging and multi-class message. The pairing decision depends on the effective pairing time defined by the system when a bluetooth device comes into service range. Within the constrained pairing time, central server can deliver a message to the bluetooth device directly without re-pairing. Otherwise, the bluetooth device has to be paired with an intermediate node before it can receive a message. In addition, we store the number of times that bluetooth devices can move into the service range into a data base in order to send multi-class messages to these bluetooth devices.
To demonstrate the proposed schemes, we implement a central server on Linux system and intermediate nodes on Window Mobile platform. We also design control packets associated with their message formats. Control messages can be exchanged between the central server and the intermediate node by the control packets, and data messages can be transmitted in a heterogeneous network, consisting of bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Finally, we measured the time saved without using pairing procedure and also verified that the system can dynamically adjust the classes of messages according to the number of times that bluetooth devices enter to the service range.

Unmanned Cooperative Fire-Seeking and -Fighting Robot with Bluetooth Communication and Stair-Climbing CapabilityChao, Ying-Chin 2010 May 1900 (has links)
This thesis presents a prototype of Unmanned Cooperative Fire-Seeking and
-Fighting Robots (UCSFRs) which have a new way to climb up the stairs or traverse over
obstacles with a ball screw. There are three unmanned vehicles (one Mother Vehicle (MV)
and two Daughter Vehicles (DVs)) presented in this research. The MV can carry two DVs
to climb stairs. They can communicate with each other using Bluetooth communication
modules. The core system of the UCSFRs is a PIC 16F877 microcontroller on a 2840
development board. The software is written in C language and the interface is established
through Hyper Terminal built in Windows XP. UCSFRs are low cost unmanned vehicles
compared with other commercial ones. The double-deck structure is applied on the DVs.
The body of the MV can be extended for special purposes. In this research, there are three
tests used to verify the functionality of the UCSFRs: (1) MV?s finding and stopping fire,
(2) Communication between the MV and the DVs, and (3) the MV?s climbing stairs. In
the second test, the DVs run in the opposite direction to assist MV detect fire. By
cooperative work, they can save time finding the fire. The MV will go to the hightemperature
area according to the data sent by the DVs. Because of the features mentioned
above, UCSFRs can be used to perform dangerous tasks instead of fire-fighters.

The Study and Fabrication of Liquid Phase Sintering Microwave Dielectric Ceramics and Microwave DevicesTzou, Wen-Cheng 03 January 2003 (has links)
Recently, the evolutions of wireless communication systems are growing rapidly to satisfy the personal communication requirements. Compact, small size, low cost, and multi-function are the major developing trends among these modern wireless communication devices. The use of ceramic materials with high permittivity can effectively reduce the sizes of microwave devices.
This thesis consists of two parts: the research of microwave dielectric materials and the implementation of microstrip ceramic antennas. In the first part of the dissertation, the systematic investigations of the microstructure and microwave dielectric properties in respect of BiNbO4-based ceramics and MCAS glass-added Al2O3-TiO2 ceramics have presented. By the addition of CuO, V2O5, or CuO-V2O5 mixture, the BiNbO4 ceramics can be densified at lower sintering temperatures less than 940¢J. The excellent microwave dielectric properties are obtained as 0.5 wt% CuO or V2O5 are added as sintering aids. The exceeded additive amount or sintering temperatures will result in the appearance of abnormal grain growth and the increase of grain boundary inclusions, which will decrease the microwave dielectric properties including the quality factor (Q) and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (£nf). The CuO-added BiNbO4 ceramics reveal a negative £nf value and V2O5-added BiNbO4 ceramics reveal a positive one. The £nf values can be reduced to near 0 ppm/¢J by controlling the weight ratio of CuO/V2O5. Another method to reduce the £nf values to near 0 ppm/¢J is the substitution of Sm for Bi. For the (Bi1-xSmx)NbO4 ceramics, the presence of the £]-form of (Bi1-xSmx)NbO4 ceramics will affect the grain growth, density, Q¡Ñf values and £nf values, but that has no apparent effect on £`r values. On the whole, a high permittivity, an acceptable quality factor, and the temperature stable BiNbO4-based ceramic can be obtained.
As for (1-x)Al2O3-xTiO2 ceramics, the addition of MCAS glass can lower the sintering temperatures of (1-x)Al2O3-xTiO2 ceramics from 1500¢J to 1300¢J. And the £nf value can be adjusted to near zero by controlling the TiO2 content and sintering temperature. The appearance of Al2TiO5 phase, resulted from the consumption of TiO2, exhibits intense effect on the microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)Al2O3 -xTiO2 ceramics. The major contributions in this research would be the lower sintering temperatures and the near 0 ppm/¢J of £nf value. The 2wt%- MCAS-added (1-x)Al2O3-xTiO2 ceramics sintered at 1300¢J and x = 0.12 has a minimum £nf value of ¡V0.6 ppm/¢J.
In the second part of the dissertation, the microstrip antennas with high permittivity BiNbO4 ceramics (£`r = 43) substrate are fabricated. The bandwidths obtained are narrow and insufficient for the WLAN application. The techniques of U-slots patch and stacked structure are used to enhance the bandwidth of the microstrip ceramic antennas by combining the two adjacent resonant modes. The results indicate that the impedance bandwidth can be enhanced from 2.3% to 5.3% by embedding double U-shaped slots in the rectangular patch, or to 4.5% by using stacked patches.
