An investigation into the inclusion of child development in early childhood programsBöhmer, Wynette 30 November 2007 (has links)
The research study was determined by the fact that child development is important and that teachers/caregivers must acknowledge every child's level of development, age, individuality, social and cultural background when planning a program. Children are complex beings and therefore the literature study focused on pre-schooler, three to five years, child development during this stage and domains and principles of development. Semi-structured interviews were based on literature study and used to guide the interviews. After analyzing the data themes and sub-themes was identified and verified with literature. The teachers/caregivers were able to share knowledge, experiences, needs and concerns. To conclude recommendations were made to help teacher/caregivers to plan how to include child development in their daily program. / Social Work / M.Diac (Play Therapy)

Previous issue date: 2011-06-03 / Whereas the bonding relations are important for child development, resulting in the organization of the child´s personality and in structuring their relationships with others around them, the goal of this research is focused on the importance of bonding between the Auxiliary Child Development ACDs and children´
s nursery and the implications of this link to child development. We tried to also consider the qualification, the planning of teaching activities and teaching practice. The literature search was focused on authors with questions regarding some historical aspects of childhood; Historical aspects of the nursery, and some aspects of the theories about the physical, cognitive and psychosocial. The research was conducted under the qualitative perspective, specifically the type of case study. The methodological procedures involved: 1. Collecting data through interviews with a semi-structured, with eight assistants Child Development working in a nursery to the Public in the city of Presidente Prudente (SP), seeking information about the relationship of these affective eat children from 0 to 4 years. Were also used documents and observation, to enrich the discussion of results. 2. Analysis and discussion of data, worked through the interpretation of the meaning of the responses provided by subjects based on content analysis, which were separated by Main and categories, and related to the objectives proposed by the research. The results indicate that ACDs have teaching qualification to work in the nursery with children, seeking additional courses to qualify. It can be seen that the bonding between ACD within the nursery and children is a reality that has been proven through situations experienced and reported by them. One can also observe the kindergarten as a dynamic environment with respect to the evolution of changes, not only as a site for the care of children, but as an environment that promotes learning them.
As for the professional development of the ADI, let me make a suggestion to seek more skilled, making Specializations in the area relevant to their work with children. Another suggestion would be to participate in the same events that they can collaborate with professional work developed, contributing to society, because if the ADI seek knowledge of other professionals will be better able to deal with day to day in the nursery. In this sense the experience summed and divided contribute to the learning of children, caregivers and society in general. The appreciation of the exchange of ideas, reflecting on the position of information among others are some attitudes that ADI should possess. Understand the facts that pervade this universe, people sensitive and yet so strong, I gave hope of better days, a relationship of harmony with life.

Construção e validação de marcadores de vulnerabilidade de lactentes para disfunções em seu desenvolvimento socioemocional / Building and validation of vulnerability markers of infants to dysfunctions in their socioemotional developmentDaniel Ignacio da Silva 10 August 2017 (has links)
Introduction: The socioemotional development of infants is conditioned by the exposure to context-related factors, whose presence defines infants vulnerability to socioemotional dysfunctions. The synthesis of exposure factors as qualitative markers of vulnerability holds up the construction of tools, which capture vulnerability situations and promote the socioemotional development. Objectives: To build vulnerability markers of infants for dysfunctions in their socioemotional development and to perform their content validation. Method: Methodological research with qualitative and quantitative approach, based on the Bioecological Model of Human Development, and implemented through two research steps: data collection and synthesis, and content validation. The identification of exposure factors occurred through an integrative review, carried out between April and August 2016, with defined inclusion and exclusion criteria of studies, and systematic search strategies. The identified data were collected, submitted to the categorical thematic analysis technique. The exposure factors were grouped according their semantic similarity and it was analised the relation of categories with the context levels (Microsystem, Mesosystem, Exosystem and Macrosystem) defined by the Bioecological Model. Subsequently, it was analised the relation of categories with the elements of vulnerability of children to adverse situations in their development. From the categorization of the exposure factors, the construction of the vulnerability markers, their components and their operational manuals occurred. These contents were submitted to two rounds of content validation with expert judges in the field of child health and child development. This research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Nursing School of the University of São Paulo through the Certificate of Presentation for Ethical Appreciation nº 57933816.8.0000.5392. Results: The final sample of included articles for data collection was 112. In the context of the Microsystem and Mesosystem, the exposure factors were categorized as difficulties in the ongoing nurturing relationships; adversities in family relationships and social support, and the caregivers\' illness situation that influence the proximal processes. In the Exosystem and Macrosystem, the exposure factors were categorized as caregivers\' social vulnerabilities and weaknesses of public policies determining the material and social conditions of the family. From these categories, eight vulnerability markers, their 39 components and their operational manuals were built. The first round included 17 judges who had a maximum agreement of 100% and a minimum of 64% in the validation of the markers, their components and operational manuals. The material was revised with the judgessuggestions. In the second round, 11 judges participated with a maximum agreement of 100% and a minimum of 73%, validating the eight proposed markers with their 36 components. Final Considerations: The synthesis of exposure factors supported by a comprehensive development theory allowed the construction of vulnerability markers that had high approval. The consensus obtained by the judges allows that this technology be tested in clinical practice, to verify its predictive capacity, with a potential of anticipation of the exposure factors subsidizing the prevention of socioemotional dysfunctions.

Adolescent mothers in an intervention study a qualitative analysis of variables relating to their teaching interactions with their infantsGuzman, Janisse 01 August 2012 (has links)
The intent of this thesis was to study, in depth, the experiences of four adolescent mothers who underwent a home intervention program. I studied two mothers who did well with teaching their 12-month old children during play, and two mothers who did not do as well. All four mothers received weekly intervention from the time of their child's birth through 12-months of age. I studied the following variables: 1) how much time the home visitors spent on selected child development and parenting topics; 2) the mother's perceived social support; 3) how many community resources the mother used; and 4) if the infant was healthy and within normal developmental range. All of the mothers struggled in their lives, yet varied in the quality and time of most of the variables. It was striking how different each one was from the other. The implications of the study are important for child development specialists who can use the qualitative data within this document to better understand first time adolescent mothers in order to improve the outcomes of the home visitation services that they provide to mothers and infants. After spending time studying these four adolescent mothers, I would recommend that adolescent women not get pregnant. Adolescence is a time that is meant for experiences and self-discovery and should be spent free from a dependent child who critically needs them. Future research and funding should be spent on preventing adolescent pregnancy and ensuring that flexible curriculum be utilized by the home visitors in order to meet the varying needs of adolescent mothers.

Revisioning playground design for the developing world school campus: a nature playground proposal for La Chuscada, NicaraguaJarrett, Glen January 1900 (has links)
Master of Landscape Architecture / Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Huston Gibson / Play is essential to the development of children, as it serves as the main platform for a child to begin to explore his or her world and understand their physical and social environment. It is not a frivolous activity, but a method of learning. Despite this recognition, many playground designs are still steered, wrongly so, by unwarranted societal fears of safety. Such playgrounds lack developmental benefits due to their composition of isolated, prefab plastic components on an asphalt field. Despite recognition in the late twentieth century that “childhood itself is in danger of extinction”, many playground are still sterile in nature. The time is now for designers to look critically at playground design trends and intervene to improve the quality of the environments our children are exposed too. The positive development of the next generation, our children, depends on it.
In the case of the community of La Chuscada in Chinandega, Nicaragua, economic status presents a major barrier to the creation of beneficial learning environments. This project addresses the hardships of implementing a developmentally beneficial playground, and through the collaboration with the Amigos for Christ philanthropic organization and interior architecture student Aaron Bisch, offers solutions to achieve this goal. Culture-specific influences of play are explored and survey data from the community of La Chuscada reveal strategies for the implementation of a nature playground design that offers developmental benefits for the children of the community.
