The doctoral thesis Who Am I? Subjectivities in the Society of Accountability aims to demonstrate that accountability is one of the most powerful processes of subjectivation in our contemporary era. The background is constituted by ordinary daily practices, born from the propagation of digital media in the last twenty years. Accountability is defined as the peculiar anthropotechnic that derives from the extension of the subject in the form of the account. Account is defined as every extension of the subject in the digital world, so that these extensions are univocally attributable to a singular physical body of a singular human being. The concept of subjectivity is considered as outlined by Michel Foucault in the period 1977-1984. The dissertation also aims to demonstrate that the society of control, investigated by Foucault and Gilles Deleuze, finds its present fulfillment in the form of the society of accountability. Accountability is considered in three moments, connected by a circular movement instead of a causal sequence. The first moment describes how dispositives act on subjects. The scene of address is constituted by the request of performativity made by dispositives to the subject. This request takes place in the account, to be understood as the interface between dispositives and subjects. Secondly, the same process is taken in consideration from the point of view of the subject, who is invited to answer the question: Who am I? Thus the subject understands him/herself as a subjectivity without ground, because the hermeneutics of the self, derived from dispositives, finds the foreclosure of the referent as its foundation. In a third moment accountability is considered from the point of view of the statements (énoncés). The conversion of statements into information, and the statistical inferences operated on it (basically, the processes related to big data), are the focus of this moment. The outcome of this analysis is a second hermeneutics of the subject, characterised by the discourse of the master. Convergences and divergences between this (digital) hermeneutics, the Christian hermeneutics derived from the confession and the Cartesian moment are explored in order to outline the actual accountability as pastoral power and discourse of the master at the same time. In conclusion, accountability is considered as a possible ethics. If anomie and anonymity are excluded as far as they exclude the scene of address, and consequently the very possibility of existence of a bios, the valorisation of opacity is identified as the grounding of a possible ethical action based on freedom, an exercise of freedom to be understood as resilience to the complete panoptical visibility and the consequential proceduralisation of the scene of address.

Essa tese se apresenta na forma de ensaio como expressão de um desejo em problematizar sobre as urgências do presente e do passado recente da administração que inquietam, produzindo efeitos que se espalham pela cotidianidade e criam uma tecnologia específica de governo – o dispositivo do management. Para tanto, a forma ensaística é um caminho profícuo para lidar com uma forma de produção de conhecimento que busca a problematização ao invés da evidência. O ensaio é uma manifestação política que traz à tona no processo de escrita a trajetória reflexiva do pesquisador e o seu posicionamento diante de um problema. Nessa tese, o problema que se considera é o dispositivo do management e as formações discursivas que foram agenciadas a partir de sua positividade. Assim, utilizo a escrita de si como prática metodológica na criação de um argumento fictício no qual também se reverbera a positividade do management. Dando base à narrativa em ficção, defendo que a nossa história recente acompanhou um avanço das técnicas do management como referência na forma de organizar a vida em sociedade. Para além dos muros da empresa, as ferramentas de gestão são demandadas da administração pública até a domiciliar, configurando um modo de subjetivação racional-utilitarista sustentado pelo enunciado da padronização ao longo do século passado. Este ganhou força quando um novo mote econômico foi agenciado a partir dos anos 1980 com a expansão do neoliberalismo e a constituição dos mercados financeiros, reforçado pelo enunciado dos privilégios. O agravamento recente da positividade do management se dá na forma de outro modo de subjetivação que passa, então, a atuar concomitante a ele em uma operação concêntrica em prol da maximização dos fluxos do Capital: o dispositivo da financeirização. Assim, os sujeitos hoje se constituem fortemente subjugados a uma lógica que lhes incute uma pretensa individualização liberal que mascara um fundo de totalitarismo capitalístico disciplinar. Essa tese é uma problematização desse momento contemporâneo de (des)ilusão se engendrando na elaboração de uma genealogia que, como um trem que se adentra no túnel escuro, tão cedo não se verá o fim. / This thesis presents itself in the form of an essay as an expression of a desire to problematize on the urgencies of the present and the recent past surrounding the study of organizations, producing effects that spread through the quotidian and creating a specific technology of government - the management dispositive. For this, the essay form is a useful way to deal with a form of knowledge production that seeks problematization rather than evidence. The essay is a political manifestation that brings to the fore by the writing process the reflective trajectory of the researcher and his positioning in the face of a problem. In this continuous process of reflexivity of the self in which theory and empiricism merge from the varied set of experiences of the essayist, knowledge is produced as a work of the self in thought that allows him to problematize on the questions around the sayings and doings of his field of study. In this thesis, the problem that is considered is the management dispositive and the discursive formations that were engendered by its positivity. Thus, I also use the writing of the self as a methodological practice creating a fictitious argument in which the positivity of management is also reverberated. The recent aggravation of management positivity occurs in the form of another mode of subjectivation, which then acts alongside it in a concentric operation in favor of the maximization of Capital flows: the dispositive of financialization. Thus, subjects today are strongly subjugated to a logic that instils in them a supposed liberal individualization that masks a fund of disciplinary capitalistic totalitarianism. This thesis is a problematization of this contemporary moment of (dis)illusion engendering in the elaboration of a genealogy which, like a train that goes into a dark tunnel, will not see its end quite soon.

A partir dela, buscou-se apresentar como se caracteriza a vida de alto executivo e que dispositivos a sustentam. Para tanto, empreendeu-se uma pesquisa exploratória qualitativa que, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, contou com a participação de altos executivos de empresas de médio/grande porte localizadas no Brasil. Alcançados por meio da análise de conteúdo, os resultados permitiram caracterizar a vida de alto executivo como vida estimulada e como vida vedada. Condizentes com os ditames organizacionais, os dispositivos assim se apresentaram: o dom, dispositivo de engajamento; a bajulação, dispositivo de sedução; a glamourização, dispositivo de captura; e a produtividade, dispositivo de poder. / Liquid Life in the liquid-modern society, Immaterial Labour and the notion of Dispositive, formed the theoretical basis of the current study, based, especially, on Bauman (2001, 2005, 2007a, 2007b, 2008a, 2008b), Gorz (2005) e Agamben (2009), respectively . Starting from it, this research aimed to understand how is characterized the life of a high executive and which dispositives sustain it. In order to do so, a qualitative exploratory research was conducted, and, through semi structured interviews, reached the participation of high executives from medium and major Brazilian companies. Obtained from the content analysis, the results allow the featuring of the executive life as a stimulated and hidden life. Aligned with the organizational dictates, the dispositives are presented as: the gift, the engagement dispositive; the adulation, the seduction dispositive, the glamorization, the capture dispositive, and the productivity, the power dispositive.

Tomando como referência a definição e discussão de dispositivo no pensamento de Michel Foucault, a preocupação central reside em compreender como a transexualidade, ao longo do século XX, transformou-se em uma patologia a partir de um conjunto de saberes e práticas de poder que constituíram a elaboração do diagnóstico de transtorno de identidade de gênero, assim como a concepção normativa da noção de transexual verdadeiro. Ao mesmo tempo destaca-se que no âmbito do próprio dispositivo, negociações e, principalmente, subversões da norma apresentam-se como possibilidades de resistências. A partir de uma pesquisa empírica que consistiu na realização de entrevistas semi-estruturadas tanto com transexuais quanto com os profissionais de saúde foi possível observar que o conceito de transexualidade está permanentemente em negociação e abarca uma diversidade de experiências de relação com o diagnostico e de construções de si. Neste sentido, num primeiro momento discute-se a produção do dispositivo da sexualidade entre os séculos XVIII e XIX, em seguida abre-se uma discussão sobre a invenção da transexualidade enquanto patologia a partir do século XX, principalmente após os anos de 1950. Posteriormente, discute-se a questão dos saberes localizados, recuperando a importância dos saberes trans no âmbito do próprio dispositivo e finalmente, tendo como referência os conceitos de gênero e de identidade propostos por Judith Butler, analisa-se os jogos identitários presentes na transexualidade / The present study aims to analyze the precept of transsexuality in the health practice. Taking the precept definition and discussion as reference, according to Michel Foucault, the main concern lies in comprehending how transsexuality was transformed into pathology along the XX century, that is, an ensemble of knowledge and power that constituted the elaboration of the gender identity disorder diagnosis, as well as the normative conception of the actual transsexual notion. At the same time, it is intended to emphasize that, in the extent of the precept, negotiations, and mainly subversions of the norm, are presented as possibilities of resistance. From an empiric research, consisting of the execution of semi-structured interviews with transsexuals as well as health professionals, it was possible to perceive and interpret the meanders and vicissitudes that underlie the transsexuality matter. In this sense, the production of the sexuality precept in the XVIII and XIX centuries is discussed at first, moving on to a discussion concerning the invention of transsexuality as pathology following the XX century, mainly after the 1950s. A discussion concerning the located knowledge is subsequently presented, retrieving the importance of the trans knowledge in the extent of the precept and, finally, the identity games present in transsexuality are discussed

The sports in Sweden has previously been self-regulated with its own rules and provisions. As the commercialisation and professionalization have increased the common legal system has a greater impact on sports. The purpose of this study is to investigate the professional ice hockey adjustments to the labour law regulation. Furthermore the purpose is to illuminate possible advantage and disadvantage with the professional ice hockey player’s conditions of employment. To answer the purpose and the research questions of this study the legal dogmatic method, the legal sociology method and qualitative method with interviews has been used. The study shows how the professional ice hockey has adapted the labour law regulations with collective agreement due to the semi-dispositive provisions found in Swedish labour law. In Swedish professional ice hockey only the fixed-term contract is applied and most of the provisions about employment security are not available for the ice hockey players. In return the players has a stronger protection during the employment. As an employee and a parent the right to have a parental leave is statutory. The study shows a complex of problems with ice hockey player’s opportunity to have a parental leave, which is a right as an employee. This raises questions about equality between men and women in the labour market of ice hockey.
