Documentation and Agile MethodologyTabrez, Shams, Jan, Islam January 2013 (has links)
Computer science in general and software engineering in specific is changing very fast. Software engineers are constantly using more innovative and more efficient ways to develop new software than in the past. This continuous evolution of software development methodologies has a great impact on both the software developed and the environment that the developers work-in. Agile software development methodologies are used to overcome many issues in the software development processes. One of the issues which still exists and needs to be addressed is the preparation of proper documentation along with the software. The work presented in this dissertation focuses on software documentation. The work starts by a thorough literature review which focuses on different aspects of software documentation and different agile methodologies. The thesis focuses on finding out the challenges that the developers faces during their development process. Two major questions addressed in the thesis. First one is to find the motivation to document in agile envirionment, whih is based on the hypothesis that there do exist a motivation. The second question is that how should documentation be produced such that we could avoid maximum possible potential problems. These questions are addressed with the help of different perspectives of the stockholders (i.e. developers and users) and the existing methods for documentation. A questionnaire was developed based on the nine categories of documentation, like user documents and system documents etc.. It included different questions related to the types of documents created in software development processes, the software development stage at which the documents are created and the importance of the documents. Questions from this questionnaire are then posted on agile specific discussion forums. Where many experienced and fresh practitioners participated in the discussion. We had a detailed discussion on every component of documentation and problems were identified by the practitioners. The questionnaire was also sent to different companies practicing agile methodology. we received about 14 responses as it was detailed questionnaire with about 34 questions. The responses of the discussion forum and survey are then analyzed and conclusions were drawn. The conclusions include that all the participants consider software documentation very important to the success of a software development project. the question of motivation is answered from the literature and opinions we received from experienced practitioners. While seven factor are identified that affect your documentation, to help solve the question of how should documentation be done.

Utility of HealthProLink as a Tool by Pharm.D. Students on Experiential Rotations to Track InterventionsDeMartin, Nikki C. January 2005 (has links)
Class of 2005 Abstract / Objectives: To compare the interest in and the utility of a clinical intervention documentation tool for Pharm.D. students and preceptors on the basis of gender, age, and years and type of practice.
Methods: A web-based survey (pre and post) was administered to all willing subjects. The survey web page was accessed through email. Results: Pre-surveys were completed by 14 students and 4 preceptors. Post-surveys were completed by 3 students (only one of which used the tool) and one preceptor. Due to the poor response rate results on the post-survey and the preceptors pre-survey were not analyzed. For the students pre-survey there were no statistical differences between the men and women in regards to their age. No statistically significant differences were found for students thoughts on utility and usefulness of the documentation tool on the basis of gender. Also there was no statistical difference between the men and women about the likely hood of them using a documentation tool if it was available to them.
Implications: This study found that students regardless of gender thought that a documentation tool may prove useful for preceptors and themselves. If a documentation tool was implemented it could provide important information of student activity to the preceptors as well as the College of Pharmacy.

Power in the dock : media and accountability in the digital ageSchlosberg, Justin January 2012 (has links)
Contemporary democratic discourse places emphasis on accountability as the basis of power legitimacy and the scholarly literature across disciplines has reserved a special space for the media in that process, for better or for worse. But exactly who is held to account, when, how and by whom, remain troubling questions in the study of media, politics and power. Amidst displays of adversarial journalism without fear or favour, how far are powerful interests still able to control the agenda and manipulate outcomes? The research undertaken here set out to interrogate the notion of media spectacle in a different way from which it has been commonly applied in critical media theory. In particular, its intimate association with sensationalism and tabloidisation threatens to obscure the role of spectacle in what are considered the mainstays of ‘serious’ or responsible news. The Sun might still be the most popular newspaper in Britain, and online news the fastest growing platform, but it is the serious news outlets of traditional media – public service broadcasting, broadsheets, weeklies etc – which remain by far the most credible sources of news and information. And it is credibility which holds the key to ideological power. The research involved extensive analysis of archived television news programmes, supplemented by 50 interviews with a cross section of news producers and actors including journalists, news executives, politicians, campaigners, press officers, lawyers and civil servants. The core subject is terrestrial television news in the UK – a public service regulated platform with a longstanding reputation for high quality journalism. My overall concern is not so much with scandal involving official misconduct or misdemeanour, but rather controversies that point to systemic institutional corruption of the kind that transcends individuals and party politics. These controversies are no longer rare exceptions in the contemporary newscape and their existence raises profound questions about the scope of accountability through the media. There has, however, been surprisingly little critical assessment of such coverage. This provided the overarching motivation for the research; a core premise being that only by examining those instances where mechanisms of accountability appear most far reaching, can we gain a new understanding of ideological power in the age of transparency.

UNDERSTANDING TOURISM MOMENTS AND THE IMPACT OF SMARTPHONE DOCUMENTATIONGerardo J Anaya (9041504) 24 July 2020 (has links)
The focus of this dissertation was the study of the fleeting and incredible experiences that occur during a tourism experience that this paper refers to as Tourism Moments. In study 1, a qualitative inquiry was conducted to gain an understanding of Tourism Moments. The findings produced a conceptualization and description of the Tourism Moment experience. Four different types of Tourism Moments were identified. Further, insight was gained regarding the memorability of Tourism Moments specifically, and tourism experiences at large. In study 2, the impact of smartphone documentation on the experience and memorability of Tourism Moments was conducted. Utilizing an experimental design, several hypotheses regarding the latter were tested. First, the results showcase evidence that travelers who document their Tourism Moments with a smartphone camera negatively impact their consumption experience. Interestingly, the findings also indicate that the use of smartphone documentation significantly improves the memorability of Tourism Moments later. Additional results identified that enjoyment is a significant predictor of memory, and that sharing a Tourism Moment online does not improve its memorability. Together, study 1 and study 2 contribute greatly to both theory and industry stakeholders.<br>

Improving Bristol FM Resident Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment Documentation RequirementsHall, Luke, Rhinehardt, Jared, White, Elizabeth, Melkonian, Alexander 25 April 2023 (has links)
Family physicians are often tasked with ensuring patients have the durable medical equipment (DME) they need for a given ailment. This includes nebulizers, rolling walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, and hospital beds. Family physicians are expected to be familiar with the DME indications and ordering procedures in order to obtain these items for their patients. For many of our family medicine residents, this is a vast and overwhelming facet of primary care that is often dreaded due to lack of knowledge concerning medical indications and processes of ordering DME. Therefore, our project at ETSU Family Medicine Residency of Bristol aimed to improve our residents comfort with and understanding of the clinic’s protocol surrounding the ordering of DME. We started with an evaluation of our residents’ knowledge and comfort with the indications, ordering protocol, and documentation requirements of durable medical equipment. We then conducted an educational didactic on the information needed to be able to document and order DME in our clinic. Additionally, we provided our physicians with “dot phrase macros” for proper documentation required when ordering DME through insurance. After the presentation, we re-assessed the resident’s knowledge and comfort with understanding and ordering DME in our clinic. We found that overall there was an improvement in the residents’ comfort and understanding of the DME ordering processes as well as an improvement in their knowledge of DME ordering requirements. As a result of these findings, we plan to continue DME education for all future residents at ETSU Family Medicine Residency of Bristol.
