Dialética às pressas: interação entre jornalismo e pesquisa na obra de Marx e Engels / Dialectic hastily: interaction between journalism and research in the work of Marx and EngelsDanilo Chaves Nakamura 28 August 2015 (has links)
This dissertation makes an analysis of journalistic articles of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published in the American newspaper New York Daily Tribune between 1851 and 1862. During this period, Marx worked as European correspondent and was respon-sible for the newspapers military and financial matters. Engels, as a sort of ghostwriter, helped Marx in the task weekly dispatch the articles to New York. Among the many matters discussed by Marx in these articles, we selected the economic crisis of 1857-1858 and the American Civil War of 1861-1865 as the central focus of our analysis. The choice of these two topics allows us to demonstrate the interaction between the econom-ic studies developed by Marx to elaborate his critique of political economy and studies of particular historical events. This interaction is crucial to think what Marx called in The Capital research method and presentation method. It is also fundamental to understand the specificity of the presentation or the historical narrative developed by Marx in newspaper articles. Articles about the crisis highlight how, from the detailed analysis of the financial system, especially the French Crédit Mobilier, Marx points to the centrality of the credit system in the expansion of the capitalist economy and the bursting of the crisis. From the articles on the American Civil War, we described as Marx tried to understand the war as a conflict between two social systems the slav-ery and the free-labor having in mind the expansive necessity of slavery.

Previous issue date: 2010-06-02 / The focus of this study is to problematize, based on Karl Marx s and Paulo Freire s theoretical-methodological perspectives and also on the professional experience of
the research author, the current public school model, pursuing elements for the construction of a new schooling institution project. The research object, public school, is analysed as a concrete whole as a multiple relations and interrelationships result that occur in their interior. For a radical, global and rigorous reading resulting in a real concrete, not an immediate concrete, the research indicates the observation of Marx s (dialectic) and Freire s (awareness) theoretical-methodological perspectives epistemological basis. It is postulated that a dialectic and conscientizing view on
public school will enable the knowledge of what this institution truly is and with effect, offer an opportunity of the action edification able to build another public school project, unlike today s implemented model, which does not suit as a place for a humane, fair and democratic world fomentation. The referred study is anchored on the philosophical methodology. Therefore, at first, it seeks to engender a comprehension on What Philosophy is , going to the source of what it really intents. Hereafter, it starts a search to orchestrate the philosophical methodology as a problematization motion of reality, especially in this case, educational-academic. In
conclusion, basing on a substantive theoretical reference, the possible alternatives to process the current reality on public school become concreteness, that is, understanding what public school really is, infinite possibilities arise for the purpose
of constructing a new school project, capable of decisively contribute with the organization of a new society project. It is in evidence that reality and current school projects are oppressor, unequal and lead men and women to being less. What it is desired is a social organization that has, as its basic principles, solidarity, humanization, hope and social justice. It is aiming this kind of society that school must conduct its educational process. By this transformation of public school horizon, Marx s and Freire s theoretical-methodological perspectives contributions become dispensable.
neste caso, a realidade educacional-escolar.

Previous issue date: 2011-03-02 / The work aims to investigate the formative intention expressed in the Pedagogical
Projects of the Municipal Schools that have the complete Elementary School in the
rural area in the city of Pelotas, RS, Brazil, with reference to the marxian notion of
emancipation, through a documentary analysis of philosophical nature, based on the
dialectic Marxian method. In the opening chapter, it starts with the presentation of the
origins of the research and the importance of studying the Pedagogical Projects,
aiming to explain the importance of these documents for formal education and the
relevance of researching them; then it is discussed the historical and economic
context of emergence of the laws that regulate the implementation of these
documents, where is given a short historical resume in order to elucidate some
relations between the Brazilian society, public schools and some international
institutions; finally it is presented the Marxian concept of emancipation, through a
careful analysis of The Jewish Question, Marx's work that addresses the subject
more specifically. In the second chapter there is the historical contextualization of the
period of preparation of the Marxian dialectical method and is described its
systematization; are also delineated the stages of the performance of the research,
under a dialectical perspective, and determined the categories of analysis. Finally,
the third chapter is devoted to the synthesis. In this step is performed the
reelaboration of the chaotic original vision, when it is found out that the analyzed
documents have the intention of forming emancipated citizens under the standpoint
of political emancipation, since their contents express intentions and principles
directed to it / O trabalho objetiva investigar a intencionalidade formativa expressa nos Projetos
No

Levando a sério determinados elementos do pensamento adorniano,
[en] Making use of the Critique of Political Economy, Psychoanalysis and
Critical Theory, the present work essays a characterisation of contemporary
capitalist society in function of its mode of material production and ideological
forms. Working in Adornian lines, and based on aesthetical constructions, it then
seeks to propose models for the rejection of the totality of this society, at the same
time reflecting on the role, function and limitation of traditional critical
categories.

Distanciamento e crítica: limites e possibilidades da teoria de sistemas de Niklas Luhmann / Detachment and criticism: limits and possibilities of Niklas Luhmann\'s systems theoryJoão Paulo Bachur 03 April 2009 (has links)
Niklas Luhmanns theory of society, built as theory of social systems, is usually met with criticisms pointed against its intended moral and political distance in diagnosing contemporary society. Weights upon the social systems theory the generalization of a premature judgement according to which, this theory would be reduced to a conservative sociology with technocratic tendencies, a radicalised heir to positivism. However, and against this usual perception, the theory of social systems seems to have a critical potential not yet developed in its full extension and which may be activated by an interpretation capable of expanding its range. This extension can be carried out when we handle social systems theory in order to ground a materialistic theory of communication (chapter 1), enabling a close connection between its main conceptual category autopoiesis and Karl Marxs presentation of the capital (chapter 2), as well as a confrontation with a theory of capitalism (chapter 3). Afterwards, social systems theory is used to explaining the manifoldness of social inequality (chapter 4) and the dynamics of contemporary conflicts and societal contradictions (chapter 5). This thesis proposes a first step in the direction of a critical reception of Niklas Luhmanns theoretical work. It is a matter of testing limits and possibilities of social systems theory

Granberg, Adam January 2015 (has links)
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the Swedish industry- and craftmanship trade, specifically the relationship between effort and reward and how it affects the meaningfulness during labour hours. Also, what are the possible effects on production efficiency as a whole? Discussed and analyzed through empirics and previous research. 38 workers filled out a survey and two interviews were conducted to get a more analytic depth to the data. The results showed that there is little to no reward for high effort during labour hours on the evaluated workplaces, combined with low commitment and meaningfullness. My conclusions are that more ways of effort-based rewards would likely have a positive effect on meaningfulness and thereby the production as a whole. I also show that the theses of Karl Marx are still plausible and relevant in modern day industrial- and craftsmanship trades in capitalist countries.

Mýtus v americké reklamě po roce 1945 / Myth in American Advertising after 1945Linhart, Marek January 2013 (has links)
This thesis is designed as a comprehensive analysis of the advertising discourse within some pre-set constrains. Specifically, the main area of interest is the realm of American print advertising after 1945. Within these limits, advertising is understood as a mode of language, the chief semantic unit of which is a form of Barthesian myth, a superstructure divorced from reality that supersedes de Saussure's semiotics of the sign. The bulk of this thesis is then a diachronic analysis of the development of these myths and their role as both mirrors and catalysts of a whole range of stereotypes, value hierarchies or fixed ideas firmly embedded within American collective consciousness. The primary materials for this analysis are then various specimen of the advertisements themselves, carefully selected because of their representativeness, influence or significance within the advertising realm. The main theoretical framework rests on Marx's understanding of the commodity as a certain type of fetish, Barthes's description of the structure and social function of the myth, Baudrillard's and Debord's theories on such notions as the society of spectacle, the reign of simulacra and hyperreality, Benjamin's understanding of the uniqueness of representation and its aura and finally McLuhan's detailed accounts of...

A questão ética na advocacia: uma abordagem crítica / The lawyersethics: a critical approachKhalil, Antoin Abou 29 April 2014 (has links)
The current paper aims at building a critical reflexion on lawyers ethics. Not in the sense of ethics in lawyers as individuals, but as they are invested in the social role they have when they are in the exercise of their professions. Starting with the methodological premise of historical materialism, we have tried to demonstrate the necessary correspondence between capitalism (commodity form) and law (legal form), as well as the fundamental contribution of lawyers to the capitalist praxis, of which law is the essential structural tie. The reflexes of this dynamic in lawyers ethics are examined in a specific way, in the scenery of the application of three professional basic premises: independence, probity and moderate advertising based on which its embarrassment before social capitalist forms is clear. In the course of the paper, the ideological theme is approached to illustrate the profound degree in which it contributes to the reproduction of social relations and to the constitution of individuals as subjects and, under capitalism, as subjects moulded by capital and for the interests of capital. The ideological role is debated not only as the law and its agents, but also the philosophical theory that is built around this entire task. Nevertheless, if on the one hand philosophy can be used to ideologically reinforce the exploitation praxis, it also has the role of pointing the way in which it may be feasible to break with it. For this reason, under the light of concrete utopia, as given by Ernst Bloch, we point at the historical possibility of effectiveness of a new sociological matrix, of socialist characteristic, in which law and its agents will cease to exert the leading role of justice that is merely formal to make way to justice in its concrete sense, materialized in the social plan.

The Tower is Everywhere: Symbolic Exchange and Discovery of Meaning in Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49Kincade, Jonathan 06 May 2012 (has links)
Thomas Pynchon’s novel, The Crying of Lot 49, details Oedipa Maas’ quest to unearth a possibly centuries-old clandestine mail system, the Trystero. Oedipa is immersed in notions of sociality and she must navigate the social landscape, searching for clues as to the existence of the social system. In her quest she assumes the role of a detective who searches for meaning, as she looks for clues and questions others who might potentially be privy to the secrets of the Trystero. She necessarily performs the process of symbolic exchange with those she encounters in an attempt at ascertaining some greater meaning within the world that she thinks might lie behind the Trystero. In this, the nature of the circulation of meaning is revealed as a cultural construct.
