O Brasil não é para principiantes: Lew Parrella, Geoge Love e David Zingg, fotógrafos norte-americanos na revista Realidade (1966-1968) / Brazil is not for beginners: Lew Parrella, George Love e David Zingg, American photograghers in the Realidade magazine (1966-1968)Angelo Augusto Manjabosco 05 April 2016 (has links)
This research is intended to investigate the contributions of three American photographers - David Zingg, George Love and Lew Parrella - for the photojournalism published in Reality magazine, and in what way their jobs are different from what was produced in Brazil until the early 1960s. The importance of the magazine during the military dictatorship regime, added to highlight some of the photographers hired at the time by Editora Abril subsequently obtained in art exhibitions in museums and galleries are some of the elements that justify this study, as well as the lack of published researches focused on these three North American photographers. The time frame chosen for this dissertation is from the first issue of the magazine in April 1966 to the December 1968 edition, when the approval of the Institutional Act No. 5 is instituted in Brazil. This choice is due to the fact that during this period there was still a relative freedom of expression, both within the grafic as textual genres. In addition, it can be consdered the publication\'s biggest stage of social relevance, for during the military dictatorship it raised themes that confronted the regime. The main sources of research used were the copies of the magazine themselves and the recent bibliography on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the 1964 coup in Brazil. Although Reality magazine is already the subject of many studies, it makes room for this research, which is supported at the intersection of the fields the history of photography and politics.

Análise Multicanal de Ondas de Superfície (MASW): um estudo comparativo com fontes ativas e passivas, ondas Rayleigh e Love e diferentes modos de propagação / Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW): a comparative study with active and passive sources, Rayleigh and Love waves and different modes of propagationClaus Naves Eikmeier 19 March 2018 (has links)
This work aim to study the MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves) method by comparing results obtained with different sources (active and passive), Rayleigh and Love waves and different modes of surface waves propagation. Two seismic tests were performed: one with two-dimensional acquisition geometry and 10Hz triaxial geophones, and the other with linear geometry and 4.5 Hz vertical component geophones. Studies were carried out with the following sources: sledgehammer, rammer compactor, ambient noise and vehicular traffic, the last through the Passive Roadside MASW technique. Inversions results with vertical component data (Rayleigh waves) were evaluated through joint inversions with the radial (Rayleigh waves) and transversal (Love waves) components. It were also analyzed the inversions results of the fundamental mode of the dispersion curve with the results of joint inversions with the first higher mode. The studies were carried out in front of the Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciência Atmosféricas (IAG) (Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Science) located inside the university campus Cidade Universitária Armando de Salles Oliveira (CUASO) of Universidade de São Paulo (USP) (University of São Paulo) in the neighborhood of Butantã, São Paulo. The study area has information with a geological material description and SPT (Standard Penetration Test) values that were used to validate the results. The rammer compactor showed to be a better active source in relation to sledgehammer through different aspects: generation of greater energy in vertical and transverse components; better quality of (V,f) spectrum; the data have the advantage that they can be processed using the f-k beamforming technique. The acquisition with ambient noise did not allow the dispersion curves interpretation due to the short acquisition time used. Passive Roadside MASW data contributed to the active data through the lower frequency. Besides that, due to the clear identification of the 1st higher mode in its (V,f) spectrum it was possible to identify the same mode in the (V,f) spectrum of the active data, interpretation that was, until then, doubtful. However, the joint inversion of the Passive Roadside dispersion curves with the active curves did not produce better results compared to the inversion obtained only by the active curves. The joint inversion of dispersion curves from radial (Rayleigh) and transversal (Love waves) components with the curves obtained by the vertical component (Rayleigh waves) also did not bring a better result when compared with the inversion achieved only by the vertical component curves. The use of the first higher mode with the fundamental mode, however, showed significant improvements in the joint inversions results compared to inversions only of the fundamental mode curve. Considering the uncertainties involved, the best results of this work converge with the a priori information of the study area. At the current MASW method stage of development, several steps are quite dependent on the operator. Therefore, the studies carried out in this work contribute to a better understanding of the method in its fundamentals, acquisition parameters and processing.

This work aims at investigating the faces or ways of presenting love and love relations in the lyrics of Chico Buarque's songs. Understanding love as a feeling inherent to all human beings as well as a culturally constructed ideal, the investigation proposed here will turn to some songs of the buarquian songbook which allow the discussion of the following aspects: the expression of the I in love, the love discourse; the relatiosnhip man/woman under the female view; the idea of love as romantic expression and its veiculation through songs as a product of the mass culture; the sexual desire and the presence of the body of the beloved one in songs between 1972 and 1978; the relation love/time and the changes in the artist's perspective about love modulated over time. This way, we intend to stablish a course of reading that demonstrates how the theme love is set in Chico Buarque's songs, understanding that it presents itself not only confirming its tradition in the lyric tradition in which its is inserted but also calling this tradition and the ideal of love into question. As the theoretical reference, this work will resort to the thinking of Roland Barthes, Octavio Paz, Edgar Morin, Denis de Rougemont, Simon May, Adélia Bezerra de Meneses, Mary Del Priori, Luiz Tatit, among others.

Développement et modélisation de plateformes à ondes acoustiques de surface guidées : caractérisation des propriétés mécaniques de films minces mésoporeux / Development and modeling of guided surface acoustic wave sensors : characterization of the mechanical properties of mesoporous thin filmsBlanc, Laurianne 01 July 2011 (has links)
This research thesis presents the development of acoustic wave sensors, particularly Love wave sensors, using mesoporous materials. The first part of this work has focused on the development of a method to characterize the stiffness modulus of a mesoporous film, deposited on a sensor, and under humidity exposure. The experimental setup allows simultaneous acoustic and ellipsometric measurements. Changes in the stiffness modulus of a mesoporous titania film as a function of humidity were calculated using a curve-fitting procedure between experimental results and a numerical model dedicated to modeling the Love waves propagation in the structure. We have shown that the influence of sorption on the mechanical behavior of a mesoporous film is an important factor to consider, especially in the design of micro-sensors. Subsequently, devices coated with SiO2 and TiO2 mesoporous were developed for different applications: the detection of volatile organic compounds, the detection of biological species and the monitoring of a photocatalysis reaction. Finally, we realized sensors coated with a single layer of mesoporous TiO2 that performs the functions of waveguide and sensitive layer, which enable to increase significantly the sensor sensitivity.

Postavení lásky ve spiritualitě Františka Saleského / The position of love in the spirituality of St. Francis de SalesSvobodová, Jana January 2012 (has links)
The centre of S. Francis of Sales's spirituality is love. In my thesis, first of all, I deal with formative influences which formed his personality. This is the starting point in the discourse about Francis's theological optimism, its roots and its influence on the conception of God. For S. Francis God is esentially the God in Trinity, who share love in the highest manner also with a man through the mystery of Incarnation. Francis's conception of love that has its seat in the heart of a human being is connected with that conviction. In the very top of a heart there is the will which is called up to make decisions according to love that gives the true motivation. On the way of the growth of love the highest aim is the holy indifference, which enables God to act in a human heart according to His intentions. For S. Francis love to God is closely connected with love to a man who is the image of God. During his direction of souls to love S. Francis recommends first of all kindness and as the main mens a prayer and sacraments. The heart which has become fully pervaded with love, which loves and is loved, we can best contemplate at Virgin Mary.

Love’s Weakness: Simone Weil and the Truthful Encountering of OthersEns, Gerald 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis provides a presentation and analysis of Simone Weil’s articulation of the weakness of love vis-à-vis our encounters with others. It does so both as a way to better examine Christian theological claims about the importance of weakness and as a way of accessing the tensional depths of Simone Weil’s work from an often neglected angle. To achieve this engagement, I read Weil alongside Jean Vanier, whose life and work share with Weil a profound emphasis on the centrality of weakness for meeting others truthfully and lovingly. In Chapter One I draw on both Weil and Vanier to present their shared critique of relationships that are reduced to a pursuit of power and influence over others. I call such relationships “territorial” because they posit human beings as competitors for two-dimensional territory and therefore envision human relationships in essentially competitive terms. Chapter Two is a detailed presentation of Weil’s constructive work on the weakness of love that emphasizes her account of the impersonal, non-egoistic, and unattached relationships we ought to pursue with others. Weil claims that we experience the fullness of reality through an uncompromising embrace of all things, which we can only accomplish through the removal of ourselves in the face of others. We get concrete development of these themes in Weil’s presentation of neighbour love and friendship, which she understands as a total openness to another’s position, circumstance, and being. In the third chapter, I use the theme of communion in Vanier’s work to call into question the way Weil demands our total surrender to the other. I suggest that an absent self cannot be truly weak and vulnerable before others. The central problem, I suggest, is a conception in which any sort of positive presence is necessarily an obstacle and any imposition of oneself necessarily competitive. / Thesis / Master of Arts (MA) / In this thesis, I present and examine Simone Weil’s understanding of how we might avoid doing violence to other people and instead treat other people with love and compassion. The first chapter reads Weil together with Jean Vanier to examine the various ways that power and the attempt to dominate others dictates our relationships with others. In the second chapter I systematically present Weil’s understanding of how we might, through a certain kind of personal death, transport ourselves wholly into the perspectives of other people and thereby practice true compassion towards them. In the third and concluding chapter I use Vanier’s compelling presentation of human flourishing as consisting of heart-to-heart interdependent relationships to critique the refusal of being dependent on others that is both implicit and explicit in Weil’s account of compassion.

Liebe und sein: die Agape als fundamentalontologische Kategorie / Love and existence : the Agape as fundamental ontological categoryKnauber, Bernt Erwin 31 December 2003 (has links)
Text in German / From a Christian perspective, complete wellness is available for man. This fact is based on God's unconditional Agape-love bestowed on man in Jesus Christ. It is by this love that being is offered a perfect vision of eternal existence. The Bible clearly shows that even creation was brought forth by the very word in which the love of the creator manifested itself in a mighty way. All being is being in the love of God, apart from which it will cease to exist. It would therefore seem advisable to examine Agape as a basic ontological category, which is our intention in this treatise. Following the course of salvation history we shall demonstrate how the love of God is responsible for being in all its complexity, where the separate parts work together constructively, thus glorifying their creator.
In this way we behold the order of being in Agape. We move our attention beyond salvation of the individual but rather focus on the community aspect of salvation, and thus demonstrate from a biblical point of view, the significance of the New Testament ecclesia as the spearhead of God's Kingdom. We will show that it is the intention of Agape to give a specific Christian character to the community of believers as a witness to a world which is lacking in love and therefore also without proper orientation in its being. Where the ecclesia has lost its trait of love, we advise an uncompromising return to a corrective gospel as designed by the creator for true being, keeping in mind the limits, which the church has been given as an existing body in this world.
What must never leave our focus, however, is that we extend to each other the forgiveness of Christ as the core of God's love, thus holding on to the distinct difference between Christian and non-Christian being. We therefore also recommend to examine the denominational structure of Christianity whether it is in conflict with a being that carries the mark of God's love. We remind that Agape wants to cause unity in a concrete way - unity that cannot be brought about by any secular strategy, but only by the power of God. By reorganizing our personal as well as our ecclesiastical being, the love of God will also verify the truth of God completely. / Systematic Theology & Theological Ethics / D.Th.
