SOCIAL WORKERS’ PERSPECTIVES ON CHILD AND FAMILY TEAM MEETINGS IN CHILD WELFARE

Patel, Deepa 01 June 2019 (has links)
A Child and Family Team Meeting (CFTM) is an engagement tool utilized by child welfare agencies across the state of California to strengthen families and ensure the protection for a child in the foster care system by making decisions in a group setting. This research study examines social workers’ perspectives of CFTMs in a county child welfare agency in Southern California. The literature review supports the utilization of CFTMs as a practice to enhance engagement with families and achieve better outcomes for the organization. A constructivist research paradigm was used in conducting this study, which collected qualitative data through interviews from key stakeholders at the study site. Social workers who work closely with families and participate in CFTMs contributed to the shared construction. The data was analyzed using a thematic analysis technique, and member checking in meetings was used to reflect on the shared construction of the usefulness of CFTMs. The findings of study revealed that CFTMs are widely accepted by social workers and agency staff as an engagement tool to induce positive outcomes for the children and families involved. The perspectives of the participants revealed themes of increased engagement, communication, involved decision‑making, transparency in services and improved social work practice. The data gathered from this study provided a better understanding of CFTMs and may enhance social work practice by highlighting the need for agency support in workload reduction to allow for adequate time to prepare families for the CFTM and improve outcomes for safety, permanency and well‑being.

Hultner, David January 2012 (has links)
Background: Schizophrenia affects 24 million people around the world. Travelbee (1972) believe that the only way to achieve good nursing is to create a genuine interpersonal relationship. Good treatment needs care staff to know the patient's experiences of meeting. It should be the recipient's needs who determine. The aim: was to illuminate how people with schizophrenia experience meeting with nursing staff. Method: A literature review based on nine scientific articles was performed. Result: The results showed that people with schizophrenia experienced the meeting with nursing staff as both positive and negative. They wanted to be seen as individuals, which was achieved with varying results. It was found that people with schizophrenia felt that they were overlooked, generalized and belittled by the nursing staff. Discussion: Based on the result's findings was a discussion about the importance of nursing staff attitude to patients, patients' desired improvements and possible reasons for a less good response. Conclusion: Both nursing theory and Swedish law highlights the importance of understanding the patient, by doing this good nursing can be created.

Colonial Homes: A Case Study of Community Participation Models in the Design Phase of Urban Redevelopment

Overton, Alan Maxwell 21 April 2005 (has links)
This case study was designed to test the hypothosis that members of a residential community, when faced with a large scale development project, hold a broad range of opinions and ideas, rather than a single perspective. These opinions, drawn from a wide range of local experiences, represent a wealth of potential design ideas which may be lost if the development process assumes that public opinion is uniform and homogenous.Accordingly, research proceeded in meetings with the Collier Hills North neighborhood association with the purpose of ascertaining whether or not the the priorities of the community reflected in public meetings during development debate provided an accurate view of the preferences of neighborhood residents, due to the self-selecting nature of the population in attendance. After initial investigations into the perceived agenda of the residents of Collier Hills North regarding potential redevelopment issues surrounding the adjacent Colonial Homes apartment complex, the investigator prepared a survey instru-ment and delivered it in two stages; first, at a neighborhood association meeting, and sec-ondly via a door-to-door survey. Results of the suvey suggest that different priorities are placed on certain key issues by the self-selecting population that attended the meeting than the random sample of residents contacted by the interviewer during the second stage of the investigation. These differences exist in areas which could shape the framework of possible future discussions among residents, the developer and city hall regarding this potential redevelopment program. Results from the survey were then used to create a set of design priorities and strategies with the intention of balancing the needs of the interested parties.

Mötesindustrin : - KaLuKa eller Funky Friday? / Business Meetings : -Coffee Lunch Coffee or Funky Friday?

From, Ellen, Helin, Sofie January 2012 (has links)
Background Meetings have always existed in the society and are therefore not a new phenomenon. However, the business meeting industry has faced some changes and we find it out of interest to study this more thoroughly. Purpose This paper examines developments within the business meeting industry and how the actors involved respond to these changes. The paper also considers future developments. Specifically, we examine the question: -           In what way do market developments influence the actors within the business meeting industry? Methodology A qualitative research method has been applied when writing this thesis. An abductive approach has furthermore been used. We have conducted 10 interviews with participants representing either a Swedish company named Svenska Möten, hotels with conferences facilities and business customers. Conclusion We have come to the conclusion that the actors are well aware of the market developments within the meeting industry. However our comprehension is that the actors do not respond in the same manner to this market changes. As we can see it time is a key word considering that several of the development factors can be related to time efficiency. Yet is time efficiency per se not only related to the meeting industry but to the society in general.
