Previous issue date: 2017-03-08 / Fundação São Paulo - FUNDASP / The psychoanalytic clinic is now faced with the effects of new psychic realities. The so-called
contemporary psychoanalysis, characterized mainly by the breakdown of the theoretical rigidity of the
post-Freudian psychoanalytic schools, seeks ways of understanding and new clinical and theoretical
positions, in the face of what André Green called non-neurotic structures. This thesis presents the
work with patients who arrive at the psychological offices showing common traits among these
pictures, which distinguish them from the others, since these patients describe their evils through a
distanced speech, without implication, emptied of emotion, without relief, in a thread monotonous.
Such patients, considered subjects with symbolic deficits, still have the question of acceleration of

Osobnostní fungování u pacientů s neurotickou poruchou / Personality functioning among people with neurotic disorderKoderová, Hedvika January 2021 (has links)
This thesis focuses on comparing personality functioning among neurotic patients and the general population. The mapping of levels of personality functioning was done using the semi- structured personality functioning interview STiP-5.1 according to the DSM-5 alternative model for personality disorders. The main aim of the study was to determine whether there is a difference in personality functioning between neurotic patients (N = 30) and the general population (N = 30). Differences were observed in the dimensions and aspects of the semi- structured interview of the STiP-5.1. The literature review section of the paper presented the understanding of anxiety and neuroticism from different perspectives and directions. Space was devoted to the origin and emergence of anxiety and its manifestations. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis focused on the conception of neurotic disorders by classification manuals. Personality functioning according to DSM-5, different aspects and theoretical background were presented. Attention was paid to the definition of functional and dysfunctional personality abilities in the context of personality pathology. Subsequently, the two topics discussed were linked in a chapter that dealt with their interaction. In the empirical part of the thesis, the STiP-5.1...

An Ode to Sympathy : A Psychoanalytical Approach to Mr. Morel's Behavior D. H. Lawrence's Sons and LoversPavlidou, Eirini January 2024 (has links)
In his bildungsroman Sons and Lovers, published in 1913, D. H. Lawrence portrays the disharmonious life conditions of the coal-mining communities in England at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. While the main focus of the novel is the mother’s excessive love towards one of the sons, the reader also encounters the father of the family, Walter Morel. Mr. Morel is perceived as a brutal, vain and ignorant man. The readership might imply this description to be accurate in terms of Morel’s behavior. However, this essay argues that there are underlying reasons for his extreme attitudes and actions. Thus, the aim of this essay is to identify and explain the underlying reasons as to why Mr. Morel behaves in such a neurotic way in the presence of his family. The close reading of the novel and the use of Freudian psychoanalysis illustrated with the help of the Neurotic Fear Principle, provide evidence that there is a correlation between Mr. Morel’s attitude and the social and economic conditions in the coal-mining community. Consequently, this essay presents Morel as the embodiment of the severe consequences of industrialism, and how deeply they impact his relationship to his family.

Pacientų su afektiniais ir neuroziniais sutrikimais gydymo psichoterapijos dienos stacionare efektyvumas: longitudinis tyrimas / The effectiveness of the treatment of patients with affective and neurotic disorders in the psychotherapy day-care centre: a longitudinal studyViliūnienė, Rima 31 January 2013 (has links)
Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders, and patients who suffer from depression at the same time often also experience symptoms of anxiety disorders. It was found that individuals who developed psychopathological symptoms were characterized by significantly lower resilience. Resilience was changeable and could be improved by treatment. Treatment in a Psychotherapy Day-Care Centre included an intensive but short-term psychotherapy or combined help, and was a special, partial hospitalization programme, in-between hospitalization and outpatient treatment. Aim of the study was to estimate the effectiveness of the treatment for patients with neurotic and affective disorders at the Psychotherapy Day Care Centre, and establish the relationships and changes over time of sociodemographic factors, psychopathological symptoms, psychological distress, motivation for psychotherapeutic treatment and psychological resilience. The patients with Neurotic and Mood (affective) disorders who were receiving treatment in Psychotherapy Day Care Centre were tested. The study was longitudinal – it consisted of three evaluative stages. We found out that the expression of the psychopathological symptoms, distress, motivation and resilience significantly changed during and after the treatment. Significant differences were established between the patients with affective and neurotic disorders and between the patients treated by psychotherapy and combined treatment.

艾爾弗雷德.耶利內克<鋼琴教師>--從心理學的角度探討艾瑞卡的精神官能症及施虐&被虐症 / Psychological Exploration of Erika's Neurosis and Sadomasochism in Elfriede Jelinek's The Piano Teacher楊登媛, Young,Emma Unknown Date (has links)
Jelinek was often commended for her frequent critiques of consumerism and the subjugation of women in the patriarchal society. In her avowedly autobiographical novel The Piano Teacher, she again uses the life of a pathological piano teacher to reflect the cruelties and the subjugating powers inherent in the capitalistic and patriarchal society. By adopting a psychological approach, this thesis will show that Jelinek’s fiction is an account of a larger analysis of female masochism than it initially seems to be. The protagonist’s regular practice of self-mutilation is more than an individual pathology, but an allegory of the result of the violence and deprivation inflicted on the individual by the capitalist society.
The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter I is an introduction, including the overview of the novel and its critical backgrounds. In Chapter II, textual analyses as well as psychoanalysis will be made to explore the psychological depths of the protagonist’s compulsive behaviors and voyeurism. Erika’s relationships with men, especially with one of her musical students, Walter Klemmer, failed tragically and resulted in her final self-destruction. This chapter will study Erika’s neurotic personality and will investigate the factors which contribute to the protagonist’s neuroses and her consequent sufferings.
In Chapter III, I will focus on studying Erika’s sadomasochistic fantasies and voyeurism; not only is she made to hurt herself in her tormenting relationship with her mother, she also repeats the sadomasochistic pattern in her relationship with Kelmmer. By researching into the causes and psychodynamics of sadomasochism, Iwill discuss why her non-erotic impulses would be transformed into perverse erotic desires and behaviors. My topics for discussion include: What caused her to develop her “perverse mechanism”? What forces propel her to live out her perversions? The answers lie in the childhood traumas inflicted by her mother and the cultural conditions which lend weight and color to the individual experiences and determine their particular forms. In order to excel and become an elite of Austrian’s high culture, Erika was made to deny her drive needs until later she can only experience a libidinal deadness. Forceful repression of her natural desires lead to her pathologies. The chapter also shows the danger of conforming too completely to the capitalistic ideology and exposes the ideology’s oppressing and alienating effects.
Finally, the last chapter concludes that by presenting a cruelty revolting in its extremity, Jelinek is denouncing the Austria’s idolization of high music culture, and mourning the sacrifice of a pianist’s id under its system. Erika can be seen as the victim of society’s fetishization of petty-bourgeois values and her upbringing according to its norms. By exposing the superstructure that immobilizes her characters, Jelinek’s biting irony is directed at the capitalist superstructure and its restraining and deadening effect on the individual.

Digesting the Pan-African Failure and the Role of African Psychology : Fanonian understanding of the Pan-African failure in establishing oneness and ending disunity/xenophobia in South AfricaMohamed, Aisha January 2021 (has links)
The study insists on understanding the miscarriage of “Pan-Africanism” and the role of “African” mentality with the help of Fanon’s psychoanalysis “Black Skin, White Mask,” exemplifying the immense colonial, slavery, and apartheid psychological damages experienced by Black individuals resulting Blacks/Africans self-hate and a desire to be “white” throughout the domain of Western culture, ideology, and language. To provide accurate analysis of the “Pan-African” failure to solve increasing blacks-hate-against-blacks/xenophobia in South Africa, concepts othering, mimicry, subaltern from the critical theory (postcolonialism) were applied. Thereupon, Qualitative Content Analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis relying on the theoretical concepts were conducted, which underlined how the mimicry process makes Africa's interaction an elite-driven one, oppressing African/subaltern citizens. The findings showed a need for "Black-Consciousness" and Nkrumah's “Pan-African” vision (African unification) to end colonial-mentality generating collective subordination of Subaltern/Africans. Generally, the use of Fanon’s psycho-social analysis has shown that the generational oppression, trauma, and cultural stereotypes continue to robotize and dictate African leaders and the African Union's favoritism of Western “neo-liberal” policies. It is summarized that the “Pan-African” failure is a failure of gradual unconscious “Pan-Africanists” who pledge allegiance to “Western” policies rather than rededicating themselves to durable Radical “Pan-Africanism” which is an antidote to Africa’s self-hate/xenophobia, neo-colonialism, and the robotization of unconscious Africans.

I am going to learn basic information about selected mental disorders such as schizophrenia, affective disorders, specifically bipolar disorder, neurotic disorders, specifically obsessive-compulsive disorder and lastly personality disorders, namely borderline personality disorder. Next, I am going to focus on the treatment possibilities of mental disorders, where I speak about the prevention and social worker approach. I continue with social survey and treatment&care for people with mental disorders. Finally, I am going to write about social work methods. The main goal of my thesis was to find what methods of social work are used at work with clients suffering mental disorders. Also if in practice are any methods used and what kind of method is used most often. My next goal was to find out the effectiveness of the methods used in social work. I used survey by a questionnaire. The survey contains 11semi-open questions.
