Salvador

This makes up a strategy for developing, in the individual, the understanding of his or her itinerancy in the planet. In this perspective, we understand that the contemporary educational processes can be conducted by different sectors of society, such as the Non-Governmental Organizations (ONGs) with projects of social action in which such processes are developed. Thus, this research aims to trying to understand how the relation among the educational processes accomplished inside such entities and the theoretical, methodological, ideological and political proposals regarding the Planetary Education occur. Hence, two questions guided the investigation: first, to know from which theoretical and methodological bases, the materiality of the planetary education takes place and secondly, which educational processes attained from such actions, concerning the ONGs´ scope, are related to the Planetary Education. In this analysis, we adopted the case study which is restrained to two social action projects fulfilled in a non-governmental entity, in the town of Cajazeiras-PB. The analyzed data were obtained from the coordinators, managers and the beneficiaries of the social action projects, by means of observation, interviews and documental research, during July/2008 to December/2009. The organization and interpretation of the collected content were achieved by taking into account the phenomenological method. The results were systematized from formulated analysis categories and they showed that all the participants involved know how important these social action projects are for the improvement of life quality of those people who live in undesirable situations. This has enabled that the educational processes, made possible by such proposals, are carried out in a contextualized, participative and sharing way and, thus, have arisen, in the involved participants, the feeling of commitment and responsibility with the building of new social sceneries. The thesis which builds on the investigative course is that the Non- Governmental Organizations, with social projects, promote positive changes in both people s and communities´ lives and, in this way, the planetary education is practiced, once their interventions promote, in the individuals, new ways of seeing as well as being in the world. Such interventions also allow these people to understand their protagonist role while building up their identities and the personal and collective self-accomplishment. Furthermore, they contribute for the pertinent knowledge production by means of solidarity and cooperative participation.

Seeking for obstacles to achieve feasible interventions within NGOs with the use of Participatory Design : A study in “Network for children’s rights” Greek NGO.

Syrengelas, Emmanouil January 2018 (has links)
Non Governmental Organizations have a mission to improve the conditions of the whole or a part of the local societies in the place where they are active. “Network for children’s rights” is a Greek NGO that mostly aims to fight for and ensure the appliance of children’s rights as these have been embodied in national and European Union legislation and international treaties. Its employees are working hard to fulfill their everyday tasks and serve the children members. The scope of this study is to seek for major obstacles in order to achieve feasible interventions within NGOs with the use of Participatory Design. PD methodology is considered a fruitful one to engage the employees and other stakeholders who are affected by a problematic situation into the following processes: 1) to co-research the situation inside the working, social, financial and legal context, 2) to express their feelings, opinions, ideas on how the situation can be improved according to their needs, 3) to co-design and evaluate the solution. To fulfill the scope, a PD study in the NCR was conducted. The outcome of the study as well as its whole process were evaluated. Two major obstacles were found. The first and most significant one has been the very small percentage of representation of the stakeholders of the NGO who participated in the study. The second one has been the lack of collaborative language games to ensure mutual understanding among participants. A researcher should pay extra attention to overcome these obstacles and future studies may provide with new tools that confront them.

Macromarketing, marketing social e o processo de marketing em uma organização não governamental: um estudo exploratório / Macromarketing, social marketing and the marketing process in an non-governmental organization: an exploratory study

Carlos Rosolen Jorge 08 October 2013 (has links)
An important contemporary phenomenon is the increasing presence of Third Sector organizations, which include different types of non-profit institutions - traditional, religious and secular entities, non-governmental organizations, associative entities and corporate initiative entities. Marketing articles discourse on the characteristic environment of those organizations and describe the marketing management process by individualizing and adapting concepts, techniques and marketing tools intended for conventional companies to the specificities of that kind of organization. However, studies on the subject are usually limited to specific contexts in a particular organization and focus on the operational level, without defining a master guideline that address, in an integrated manner, the connections between this level and the strategic dimension of the organization. In addition, the literature on the subject has not included the construct value as a key element for the development of the marketing management process in all levels of decision. In this sense, the purpose of the dissertation was to discuss and describe the marketing management process of Third Sector organizations according to a value perspective. To achieve this goal, the methodological approach chosen first outlined a theoretical framework as a basis for the development of an analytical scheme of the marketing management process of a Third Sector organization, based on its evolution, from the perspective of some schools of thought in marketing, using as a reference element the concept of value in its multiple meanings. On a second phase, the author performed an exploratory and qualitative empirical research, considering the marketing process of a cause-related Third Sector organization. Therefore, one important contribution of the study was the outline of an analytical integrator scheme, covering the marketing management process gravitating around the construct value.

Community-based educational programmes as support structures for adolescents within the context of HIV and AIDS

Louw, William January 2013 (has links)
South Africa is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of HIV infection in the world, particularly among the youth between the ages 15 and 24 years. The number of infections among the youth in South Africa is still increasing and this does not exclude the youth under study in the community of Eersterust. The HIV and AIDS epidemic is affecting large numbers of adolescents, throughout South Africa leading to serious psychological, social, economic and educational problems. Because of the devastating effect and rapid increase of HIV-infections among adolescents, it has become evident that not only government departments (Department of Health and Department of Education), but also community-based educational support structures (organisations) should share the responsibility by playing a pro-active role in awareness and the curbing of the spread of HIV-infection among adolescents. Various researchers have been focusing on the knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of adolescents but limited research has been done on the contribution of community-based educational support programmes with regard to creating awareness and the curbing of the further spread of HIV-infection among adolescents. This study which seeked to address the need for ongoing research in this field, attempted to investigate whether and how communitybased educational programmes address the educational needs of adolescents within a particular community, namely Eersterust. In order to determine these needs, quantitative and qualitative descriptive research approaches were utilized comprising of a questionnaire survey and focus group interviews. The questionnaire survey explored the knowledge, skills, attitudes and sexual behaviour of the 916 participants. The results from the questionnaire were utilized to determine the educational needs of adolescents. Focus group interviews were conducted with 11 adolescents who attended the educational support programmes at the Youth Development Outreach Centre and the Circle of Life Centre. The latter are two community-based organisations in the community under study (Eersterust). The focus group interviews were utilized to determine the views of the adolescents with regard to the mode of delivery and effectiveness of the community-based educational support programmes. From the data in the questionnaire the educational needs of adolescents were identified and compared with the content of the community-based educational support programmes of the two community-based support structures. The findings revealed that the community-based educational support programmes are to a large extent addressing the HIV and AIDS educational needs of the adolescents under study. The focus group interviews revealed that the participants are of the opinion that they find the programmes interesting and enriching. They benefit educationally by attending the educational programmes and they would recommend the programmes to other adolescents. The findings indicate that the educational programmes are appropriate to address the HIV and AIDS educational needs of the adolescents. The educational needs identified in the empirical research are however not fulfilled because many of the adolescents do not attend the educational programmes. There are only a few adolescents who attend these educational programmes. The latter might be a contributing factor to the high HIV-infection among adolescents. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / gm2013 / Early Childhood Education / unrestricted
