Previous issue date: 2017-08-31 / Não recebi financiamento / Este trabalho objetivou estudar as relações de conflitos na prática musical dos séculos XVIII e XIX, vividas, sobretudo, a partir da formação do bispado (1745) na cidade de São Paulo. Estruturou-se, para tanto, mediante a exploração meticulosa de vasta documentação avulsa, cartas, ofícios e estatutos que forneceram grande quantidade de informações sobre a prática e os conflitos na música, não obstante a presença de novos atores, como mulheres, negros e seus descendentes exercendo a prática musical no cotidiano da cidade. A fundação do bispado na cidade de São Paulo provocou transformações perceptíveis ‒ seja pela construção da Catedral da Sé, seja pela estruturação do culto religioso segundo os preceitos estabelecidos no Concílio de Trento, que se espelhavam no modelo da Sé de Lisboa ‒, desse modo, fortalecendo o padroado conservador representado por Dom Frei Manuel da Ressurreição, o terceiro bispo da Sé (1772-1789). O jogo de poderes eclesiástico e civil, ora unindo-se para realizar e decidir em favor dos seus interesses, ora buscando alternativas para exercer controle sobre a prática da “música de violinos”, representaram algumas das rupturas e desordens no meio musical em tela. / This work aims at studying the conflictive relations in the musical practice of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, mainly those that emergedafter the formation of the bishopric (1745) in the city of São Paulo. It is structured through the meticulous exploration of vast documentation, letters, statutes, which provided a great deal of information about the practice and conflicts in music, despite the presence of new actors such as women, Black people and their descendants practicing music in the daily life of the city. The foundation of the bishopric in the city of São Paulo provoked noticeable transformations, such as the construction of the Sé Cathedral, as well as the structuring of religious worship according to the precepts established at the Council of Trent and following the model of the Lisbon Cathedral, strengthening the Conservative patron, represented by Don Friar Manuel da Ressurreição, the third bishop of the Sé Cathedral in São Paulo (1772-1789). The struggle between ecclesiastical and civil powers, sometimes uniting to create and decide in favor of their interests, sometimes seeking alternatives to exercise control over the practice of "violin music", represented some of the ruptures and disorders in the musical environment.

A Compadecida (1960) - a work based on Ariano Suassuna s play Auto da Compadecida.
Were used, as primaries sources, the vocal and full scores autograph manuscripts, and the
single phonograph record existing - realized in the opera debut at the Municipal Theater of
Rio de Janeiro, in 1961. Based on theoretical content described by the composer in his
didactic works, in studies of others musical researchers - like João Batista Siqueira (his
brother), Dulce Lamas and Ermelinda Paz, - sought to analyze how Siqueira combined the
musical elements of Brazilian northeastern oral tradition with his language of concert music;
and also as linked your music to the northeastern universe of characters created by Suassuna.
We seek to recognize and study influences on their process of musical composition, which
reflect the identification with ideas of important composers such as Claude Debussy, Richard
Wagner and Béla Bartok. Then, using as reference the work of Lilia Nunes and Jane Celeste
Guberfain about voice and diction were proposed interpretive vocal subsidies for the work in
question. Our research is also an attempt to understand the educator, composer, conductor,
musical entrepreneur and musicians' leader, José de Lima Siqueira, one of the most important
twentieth-century figures in Brazilian music, and the reasons behind the oblivion to which he
was subjected after his death in 1985. We try to understand the basis of his musical education
- from impoverished childhood in the hinterland of Paraíba to academic studies in Rio de
Janeiro and Europe - which led him to be one of the main Brazilian nationalist composers,
representative of a Brazilian Northeastern musical school. Together with the bibliographic
and documentary research about the composer and his work, we conducted interviews with
the author of the text, with a family member and with researchers and musicians who knew
José Siqueira. / Esta dissertação procura identificar elementos idiossincráticos da música do Nordeste
brasileiro - como o uso de modalismo, do ritmo do baião e de características da cantoria - na
ópera A Compadecida (1960), de José Siqueira, composta sobre o texto teatral Auto da
Compadecida (1955), de Ariano Suassuna. Utilizou-se, como fonte primária, os manuscritos
autógrafos das partituras para voz e piano e da grade orquestral, além do único registro
fonográfico existente - gravado na estreia da ópera no Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro,
em 1961. Com base em conteúdo teórico descrito pelo próprio compositor em suas obras
didáticas, em estudos de João Batista Siqueira (seu irmão), Dulce Lamas e Ermelinda Paz,
procurou-se analisar a forma como Siqueira associa os elementos musicais da tradição oral
nordestina à música de concerto; e também como vinculou sua música ao universo nordestino
dos personagens criados por Suassuna. Buscou-se reconhecer e estudar influências em seu
processo de composição musical, que refletem a identificação com ideias de importantes
compositores como Claude Debussy, Richard Wagner e Béla Bartok. Em seguida, utilizando
como referência o trabalho de Lilia Nunes e o de Jane Celeste Guberfain sobre voz e dicção,
foram propostos subsídios interpretativos vocais para a obra em questão. O trabalho de
pesquisa iniciou-se pelo entendimento de quem foi o professor, compositor, maestro,
empreendedor musical e líder da classe dos músicos, José de Lima Siqueira, um dos
importantes nomes da música brasileira do século XX, e o motivo pelo qual ele foi esquecido
pelo meio musical brasileiro depois de sua morte, em 1985. Procurou-se compreender as
matrizes de sua formação musical da infância pobre no sertão da Paraíba, aos estudos
acadêmicos no Rio de Janeiro e na Europa - que o levaram a ser um dos principais
compositores nacionalistas brasileiros, representante de uma escola musical nordestina. Além
da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental sobre o compositor e a obra, foram realizadas
entrevistas com o autor do texto, com um membro da família do compositor e com

Thus, it will be verified how the law will seal this area and as a consequence, will be offered the understanding of how law is allied to development. As a case study, Operation Hashtag, of the Federal Police, will be verified in 2016, which preceded the beginning of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro that same year. In this approach, a study is made of the religious and cultural conflicts taking place around the world, in the midst of the clashes between civilizations, which in many cases manifests itself in the form of terrorism, the concept of which is explored in this research, given the fact that it starts, in many cases, in the virtual environment. This work uses the hypothetical-deductive method, the prevailing method of procedure is monographic, and and secondary sources, with emphasis on works of legal doctrine, analysis of the Federal Constitution and legislation pertinent to the virtual area, besides of books in the areas of cultural anthropology and history, as well as the sentence of Federal Court that convicted eight defendants in accordance with Federal Law 13.260/2016, which represents a milestone in Brazil in the fight against terrorism. What can be concluded is that Brazil has shown great progress in relation to international demands to confront terrorist groups at the time it has sanctioned a specific law for the subject and that has a legal apparatus to discipline the use of the Internet in the country, such as Federal Law No. 12.965 / 2014, the Civil Internet Framework.

Technological changes have opened up new opportunities for historical research, which call for new methodologies to fully realise these opportunities. This paper presents the four-step interactive photo timeline analysis we developed to analyse large volumes of historical photographs from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective. We present the results of a case study (regarding both street design and street use in Vienna from 1860 to 1949) in which we utilised interactive photo timeline analysis. The geographical research scope was limited to the streets around the Vienna Opera: street use and street design were analysed from the perspective of the street as transportation space and as urban living space. The development of the interactive photo timeline analysis methodology and the case study analysis benefited greatly from the interdisciplinary nature of the research team.

Many of them were remade to film, opera, and television series in different periods. One of the “red classics” was the semi-autobiographical military romance Tracks in the Snowy Forest by Qu Bo. This novel and its many adaptations have been popular for more than half a century. This thesis takes Tracks in the Snowy Forest as a case study to explore how socialist “red classic” works have been “de-revolutionized,” reinvented for a new age and a new audience as products for popular consumption in post-Mao China, as compared to the sterner revolutionary works of the Mao era. / Graduate

Haydn's last heroine: Hanne, The Seasons, and Sentimental OperaRoussin, Rena Marie 31 August 2018 (has links)
Joseph Haydn’s final oratorio, The Seasons (1801), has consistently been neglected in performance and scholarship, particularly when compared to its earlier, more successful counterpart, The Creation (1798). A number of factors contribute to this neglect, central among them the belief that The Seasons lacked the musical innovation of Haydn’s setting of the Judeo-Christian creation story, a thought that would gain further momentum as aesthetic and musical tastes changed throughout the nineteenth century. Yet Haydn’s final oratorio is a work of remarkable musical artistry and insight, especially when considered in the context of the eighteenth-century culture of sensibility and the rise of sentimental opera, conventions with which Haydn’s would have been intimately aware given his work in opera composition and production from 1762 to 1790. By examining the ways in which Hanne, one of the three central characters in The Seasons, is constructed as sentimental in van Swieten’s libretto and Haydn’s score, I demonstrate how the librettist and composer engage the trope of the sentimental heroine. Hanne features many of the expected qualities: she is chaste, virtuous, and possesses refined sensibility and sensitivity. Furthermore, her singing style is firmly rooted in sentimental traditions. Yet her music is also imbued with coloratura and musical markers of nobility. Through these musical choices and by textually defining Hanne through joy rather than suffering and pathos, Haydn and van Swieten depart from typical constructions to rethink the sentimental heroine. Therefore, in his final major musico-dramatic work, Haydn experiments with one of the central operatic tropes of the eighteenth century. In being aware of this feature, we might simultaneously arrive at a renewed appreciation for The Seasons and of Haydn’s abilities as a musical dramatist. / Graduate

The main aim of the thesis is to analyse these models and evaluate them regarding economic, artistic and organizational point of view.
Although it is focused on South Bohemian Theatre in Ceske Budejovice, there are more opera ensembles in regions facing the same problem and asking the same question: which would be the most effective model of running our business?

The primary purpose of the thesis ?Transformation of the National Theatre and the State Opera from the marketing aspect? is to monitor the process of incorporation of the State Opera into the structure of the National Theatre, putting emphasis on the marketing potential of such process.
Evolution of coexistence of the National Theatre with the State Opera sets the topic of transformation into historical consequences and offers the overview of different operational models and cooperation between both institutions.
The core of the thesis is a reflexion of the current marketing of the National Theatre and explanation of the meaning and needs of arts marketing in general, especially mentioning the potential of brand marketing. In the practical part of the thesis I present an idea of a campaign for the opera ensemble of the National Theatre and the State Opera.
I believe that the thesis ?Transformation of the National Theatre and the State Opera from the marketing aspect? will be an asset to all future readers who should be able to look into the process of this transformation and see it not only as a historically and organizationally complicated process but mainly as an opportunity for the National Theatre to redefine mission and target of its marketing strategy.

The following text concerns itself with the comprehensive research and design of costumes for The Beggar's Opera by Václav Havel. The author of this thesis presents her historical and theoretical research, the development of her creative concept and final designs.
The play was written in the 1970s, when Havel was reacting critically to the current situation in his home country. In the practical part we can follow the development of the design concept, including analyses of the individual characters and the sources of inspiration used. Descriptions of the final designs are supported by images.
