Web-Based and Geospatially Enabled Tool for Water and Wastewater Pipeline Infrastructure Risk Management

Sekar, Varun Raj 06 October 2011 (has links)
Advanced pipeline risk management is contingent on accurately locating the buried pipelines, the milieu, and also the physical condition of the pipelines. The web-based and geospatially enabled tool presented in this thesis provides an improved way to assess the risks associated with the failure of water and wastewater pipelines. This thesis focuses on the development of a web-based and geospatially enabled tool and a network level risk model for the quantitative risk assessment of water and wastewater pipelines by taking into account the likelihood and consequence of pipeline failure. The parameters used in the risk model are evaluated by water and wastewater utility asset managers in the United States, and derived by GIS using advanced geospatial tools. A web-based and geospatially enabled proof of concept is developed as a tool for utilities to access the risk model results for the water and wastewater pipelines. An exclusive working environment will be provided for each utility with access to their respective data and risk model results. Also, this is a risk model for strategic infrastructure risk management, and it is to be used for asset allocation, financial planning, and determining condition assessment methods on a network level. / Master of Science

En arbetsprocess för att skapa 3D datorgrafik till film : Från karaktärsdesign till 3D animation

Fehér, Marcus, Borghult, Mikael January 2014 (has links)

The Drivers of Mergers and Acquisitions in Pharmaceutical Industry

Ji, Fan 2012 May 1900 (has links)
We examine the determinants and drivers of 112 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities exceed 50 million values in the pharmaceutical industry using COMPUSTAT, SDC and FDA data during the period 1980-2010 with random effect logit model. We find direct evidence on the relationship between an acquisition activity of a firm and its pipeline productivity and qualities. For the acquiring firms, the mergers are motivated by the decreasing trend in the pipeline productivity which is measured by new molecular entities (NMEs) approvals and the fewer top-sale drugs before merging. In the meantime, the research & development and advertising expense are having fewer impacts. For the target firms, the firms which are having higher drug quality and higher drug sales are more popular in the mergers and acquisitions target market. In addition, a higher research and development expense is also a significant indicator on the firm's "quality" which signals the higher possibility to be targeted.

Skapande av animationer för interaktiv spelmedia genom motion capture

Lau, Kakee January 2013 (has links)
In this thesis I will propose and test a pipeline for creating in-game animations using motion capture technology, with the aim to export to a 3D game engine, such as UDK or similar. Even though there are already established pipelines for creating in-game animations in the game industry, they are not of public knowledge and dissemination of information is hindered by the severe NDA (non-disclosure agreements) imposed on the studios and artists. I will therefore use my experience with game production and as a student, to research and propose an optimal pipeline for developing in-game animation that may be used by other students, researchers and independent game developers. The methodology used to test the pipeline will be a case study based on the student project Synergy, which I am developing with other third year students also attending the Game design Education at Gotland University.

Design and Implementation of an ARM10-like Microprocessor

Hu, Ching-chi 01 April 2008 (has links)
ARM microprocessor is one of the CPU most extensively applied to electronic products in the market, with the advantages of high efficiency, low power consumption, and low cost. The purpose of this thesis is to design and implement an ARM10-like microprocessor SYS32TME-III, it is based on the frame of 32-bits RISC architecture of ARM10, and to analyze the character of derivative architecture on RTL design with the point of view between the process of the design and implementation. For design strategy, speed 200MHz is the goal, and performance-optimized is the main point. Then, improve the mechanisms of adopting instruction pre-fetch, branch prediction, parallel execution, executive path of instruction and operation unit, and compare its results, probe into what¡¦s learning from the design.
