[pt] As igrejas batistas possuem características singulares, como o princípio da autonomia da igreja local. Cada congregação é uma unidade autônoma, ligada às demais pelo vínculo denominacional, através da Convenção Batista Brasileira, Convenções estaduais e Associações regionais. A autonomia da igreja local favorece a diversidade cúltica, pois cada igreja é livre para adotar o seu estilo. Embora seja um belo e essencial princípio batista, a autonomia favorece a pluralidade litúrgica, muitas vezes com a daninha influência de elementos que comprometem a centralidade cristológica no culto, como a liturgia neopentecostal, as literaturas de mercado e a ausência de reflexão teológica. O conhecimento da Teologia do Culto Cristão, mesmo em tradições diferentes, que até mesmo antecederam à tradição batista, é um caminho necessário para o resgate da centralidade cristológica no culto. Esse resgate das riquezas da tradição cúltica em diálogo com as igrejas batistas permitirá uma leitura justa e coerente da denominação batista, oferecendo respostas para os possíveis problemas de esvaziamento da centralidade cristológica no culto. Uma vez que o universo batista brasileiro, ou até mesmo fluminense, é muito amplo, para fins de análise da realidade litúrgica das igrejas batistas, com dados advindos de momento empírico na pesquisa, fez-se um corte geográfico na região litorânea fluminense, focando a pesquisa exclusivamente com as igrejas vinculadas à Associação Batista Litorânea Fluminense. A pesquisa, que alcançou membros de aproximadamente 90 por cento das referidas igrejas, além de pastores e seminaristas (estudantes de Teologia), revelou realidades que confirmam a necessidade da proposta de resgate da centralidade cristológica no culto, sendo fonte de pesquisa e reflexão para as igrejas batistas. Embora as igrejas batistas não adotem nenhum calendário ou manual litúrgico, mesmo diante do princípio de autonomia de cada congregação local, há uma fé batista , há uma tradição que perdura gerações. Seria um prejuízo às igrejas batistas e seus cultos virarem as costas ao assunto. O objetivo não é uniformizar o culto batista, até mesmo porque isso feriria frontalmente o jeito batista de ser . Pelo contrário, o objetivo é oferecer respostas, é dar subsídio para uma reflexão teológica consistente, capaz de fomentar valores imprescindíveis para o culto verdadeiramente cristológico e expurgar influências negativas. / [en] Baptist churches hold unique characteristics, like the autonomy principle of local churches. Every single congregation is an autonomous unit, bound to the other ones by the denominational tie, through Brazilian Baptist Convention, state Conventions and regional Associations. The local church autonomy benefits the service diversity since each church is free to adopt its own style. Although it may be a beautiful and essencial Baptist principle, the autonomy favors liturgical plurality, often with harmful influence elements that puts into risk the christological centricity at services, like the neopentecostal liturgy, the gospel literatures available on the market and the lack of theological reflection. The knowledge of the Christian service theology, even in different traditions, including those ones that preceded the Baptist tradition, is a necessary way to rescue the christological centricity at services. This rescue of the service tradition wealth together with the Baptist churches will allow a fair and coherent reading of the Baptist denomination, offering aswers to the possibles problems of the emptying in the service christological centricity. Once the Brazilian Baptist universe, or even the Rio de Janeiro one, is very wide, with the purpose of analysing the liturgical reality of Baptist churches, with data resulted from an empirical moment in the research, it was made a geographical cut in the coastal region of Rio de Janeiro, focusing exclusively on the churches linked to the Baptist Association of Rio de Janeiro coastal cities. The research, that reached members of nearly 90 percent of those churches, besides pastors and seminarists (Theology students), revealed realities that confirm the necessity of the proposed rescue of the service christological centricity, becoming source of research and reflection to Baptist churches. Although Baptist churches do not adopt any calendar or liturgical manual, even in the face of the autonomy principle of each local congregation, there is a Baptist faith , there is a tradition that lasts generations. It would be a loss to Baptist churches and their services to ignore the matter. The objective is not to uniform the Baptist service, even because this would completely harm the way of being Baptist. On the contrary, the objective is to offer answers, to give support to a solid theological reflection, capable of fomenting essencial values to a true christological service and expurgate negative influences.

[pt] O sofrimento é um fenômeno universal. Desde a Grécia Antiga, a humanidade depara-se com situações de dor, adversidades e luto e questiona-se acerca da relação entre o mal e a ação de Deus no mundo. A filosofia e a teologia tentam dar conta da incompatibilidade entre os atributos divinos e a existência do mal até os dias atuais. A recente pandemia da Covid-19 reacendeu os debates sobre Deus e o sofrimento humano, impulsionando a Igreja a se posicionar em uma sociedade acometida por perdas e sequelas. Deste modo, o presente estudo concentra-se no contexto batista brasileiro atual, analisando as justificativas teológicas para o sofrimento nas comunidades e seus impactos na fé e prática eclesial. Neste sentido, por meio de revisão bibliográfica, são analisadas sucintamente as transformações nas concepções sobre sofrimento a partir da Reforma Protestante, sobretudo em Lutero; a gênese e configurações da Igreja Batista no Brasil; as perspectivas no cenário atual, averiguando-se as influências das doutrinas neopentecostais e calvinistas na denominação. Por fim, é realizada uma pesquisa em profundidade com pastores e membros de diferentes igrejas batistas para analisar suas ressignificações para o sofrimento e as implicações em suas experiências religiosas. O trabalho evidencia a configuração teológica plural da Igreja Batista, resultado da autonomia das igrejas locais, bem como de uma denominação orientada por princípios e não de uma doutrina específica. Tal pluralidade manifesta-se também na diversidade de ressignificações para o sofrimento nas congregações. Apesar disto, percebe-se uma unidade na confiança em Deus mesmo nas adversidades e na empatia para com os que sofrem. / [en] Suffering is a universal phenomenon. Since Ancient Greece, humanity has faced situations of pain, adversity and mourning and has questioned itself about the relationship between evil and God s action in the world. Philosophy and theology attempt to account for the incompatibility between divine attributes and the existence of evil until nowadays. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has reignited debates about God and human suffering, spurring the Church to position itself in a society beset by losses and sequelae. Thus, the present study focuses on the current Brazilian Baptist context, analyzing the theological justifications for suffering in local communities and their impacts on ecclesial faith and practice. In this sense, through a bibliographic review, this work concisely approaches the transformations in the conceptions of suffering from the Protestant Reformation, especially in Luther; the genesis and configurations of the Baptist church in Brazil; theological perspectives in the current scenario, verifying the influences of Neopentecostal and Calvinist doctrines in the denomination. Finally, in-depth research is carried out with pastors and members of different Baptist churches to analyze their resignifications of suffering and its implications in their religious experiences. The study highlights the plural theological configuration of the Baptist church, which is a consequence of the autonomy of local churches and of the fact that this denomination is oriented by principles, not by a specific doctrine. Such plurality is also manifested in the diversity of resignifications for suffering in the congregations. Despite this, Baptists show a sense of a unity in trusting God even in adversity and in their empathy for those who suffer.

[pt] O trabalho caracteriza o dualismo no protestantismo brasileiro. Com base na análise da vida e obra Dietrich Bonhoeffer apresenta estratégias capazes de iluminar a prática da Igreja Batista no país. Primeiramente apresenta- se o problema que instigou a pesquisa: os efeitos prejudiciais do dualismo para a propagação do Evangelho. Afirma-se, também, a necessidade de uma visão integrada do ser humano que resulte em prática e teologia que considerem a inseparabilidade entre mística (vida voltada para o transcendente) e militância (vida inserida e atuante no mundo). Em seguida, trata-se do processo e estratégias pedagógicas de penetração dualista no cristianismo e da formação da teologia e da doutrina batista brasileira. Por fim, o estudo da reflexão teológica e experiência pessoal de Bonhoeffer, procura extrair maneiras de articular as dimensões espiritual e prática da vida cristã e de, assim, informar maneiras renovadas de um proceder cristão que supere o dualismo. Desse estudo, cinco pontos foram tomados como pistas para essa superação: o amor a Deus e ao próximo; a inserção da Igreja no mundo; a Igreja tomada como comunidade viva; a visão ecumênica e a dimensão ética da fé. / [en] This work characterizes dualism in Brazilian Protestantism. Based on an analysis of the life and works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, it presents strategies able to shine some light on the practice of the Brazilian Baptist Church in the country. Firstly, the research problem is presented: the harmful effects of dualism on the spread of the Gospel. The need for an integrated perspective of the human being, one that results in a practice and a theology that consider the inseparability between mysticism (life oriented to the transcendent) and militancy (life inserted and active in the world), is also affirmed. Next, the process and pedagogical strategies through which dualism penetrated Christianity and the formation of Brazilian Baptist theology and doctrine are discussed. Finally, the study of the theological reflection and personal experience of Bonhoeffer aims at gathering ways to articulate spiritual and practical dimensions of Christian life and, therefore, at offering renewed forms of Christian practice that surpass dualism. Out of this study five suggestions are given for overcoming dualism: love for God and the neighbor, insertion of the church in the world, the church taken as a living community, ecumenical vision, and, the ethical dimension of faith.

[pt] Este trabalho é uma pesquisa sobre as igrejas batistas, sua origem e suas características, bem como sua evolução na prática litúrgica até os dias atuais; que fatores influenciaram e determinaram a forma de cultos dos batistas e como a liderança lida com o comportamento dos fieis em tempos de cultura pós-moderna. Passa por uma rápida descrição da Aliança Batista Mundial e um histórico sobre as teorias quanto à origem dos batistas e as influências sofridas por essa denominação através dos séculos, que marcas identificam esse grupo, e outros fatores que tem afetado sua identidade nas últimas décadas. A liturgia do culto deve ser elemento que identifica uma igreja cristã e sua base está na bíblia, desde os tempos antigos até à igreja apostólica primitiva, mas a compreensão da mesma é divergente e, com outros temas, já gerou conflitos entre os cristãos, sendo o de maior repercussão, a Reforma Protestante, cujos efeitos nunca foram superados. Será possível se recuperar uma relação significativa entre igreja e culto? Nessa busca, as igrejas cristãs têm procurado aperfeiçoar e aprimorar sempre sua forma de ser igreja, experimentando diferentes modelos de organização e dinâmicas funcionais. Todavia, não se deve perder de vista a referência bíblica, o que é de fato essencial na adoração para que seja aceitável pelo Senhor, pois diante de tudo isto, entendese que mais que organização, a igreja é organismo vivo, mais que eventos e cultos, o mais importante é Ser o que se Celebra. / [en] This work is a research on Baptist churches, their origin and characteristics, as well as their evolution in liturgical practice until the present day; what factors influenced and determined the form of baptism services and how leadership deals with the behavior of the faithful in times of postmodern culture. It goes through a brief description of the Baptist World Alliance and a history of theories as to the origin of Baptists and the influences suffered by that denomination through the centuries, which marks identify this group, and other factors that have affected its identity in the last decades. The liturgy of worship should be an element that identifies a Christian church and its basis is in the Bible,(?) from ancient times to the early apostolic church, but its understanding is divergent and, with other themes, it has already generated conflicts among Christians, being the one with the greatest repercussion, the Protestant Reformation, whose effects were never overcome. Is it possible to recover a significant relationship between church and worship? In this search, Christian churches have always sought to perfect and improve their way of being a church, experimenting with different organizational models and functional dynamics. However, one must not lose sight of the biblical reference, which is in fact essential in worship for it to be acceptable to the Lord, because in view of all this, it is understood that more than organization, the church is a living organism, more than events and cults, the most important is Be what you celebrate.
