Warum kann für Bienen, Bienenkörbe, Immen und Bienenschwärme die gleiche Übersetzung gewählt werden? : Eine Übersetzungsanalyse anhand von Kollers (2011) Äquivalenztypen

Mårtensson, Mia January 2013 (has links)
The concept of equivalence can be said to hold a central position in translation studies. In this particular thesis, different aspects of the equivalence concept are discussed on the basis of five German source texts and their respective Swedish translations. The source texts are situated within the field of beekeeping and were first published in Deutsches Bienenjournal and translated for the Swedish magazine Bitidningen. The equivalence theory presented by the translation theorist Werner Koller (2011) forms the basis of the analysis. Koller distinguishes five different types of equivalence: denotative, connotative, text-normative, pragmatic and formal-aesthetic equivalence. Koller’s equivalence concept is presented and discussed with a selection of illustrative examples displaying translation problems which arose during the translation of the source texts. In the thesis, special attention is paid to when and how the different equivalence aspects were considered. Specifically, it is made evident that sometimes very different translation solutions can be justified depending on which equivalence aspect the translator finds the most important in the current case. In addition, it is argued that the translator has to establish a hierarchy of the most important values of equivalence in each different translation case and for each different target text in order to make the most suitable translation decision. It is also stated that Koller’s theory is very useful for the translator when making decisions in difficult cases and, furthermore, that all of Koller’s five types of equivalence were relevant for the translation decision-making process.

Česká přísloví a jejich německé ekvivalenty. Lexikografická analýza SČFL / Czech proverbs and their German equivalents. A lexicographic analysis of the SČFL

Kodadová, Ludmila January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of German language equivalents of Czech proverbs in the dictionary of František Čermák Dictionary of Czech Phraseology and Idiomatics 4 (DCPI 4). The introductory part of the thesis characterizes proverbs as a phraseological unit and reflects the current state of Czech and German paremiography on the basis of selected dictionaries. Another theoretical starting point is the issue of equivalence, which in contrastive phraseology or, more precisely, paremiology plays an important role. The analytical part contains of multi-level analysis of German language equivalents of the Czech paremiological minimum in DPCI 4. Equivalents were verified using Hugo Siebenschein's Great Czech-German Dictionary, Duden 11, Hans Schemann's German Idiomatics, the corpuses InterCorp and DeReKo and the Google full-text search engine. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the current state of German-language equivalents in DCPI 4 and offer possible suggestions for improvement. The chosen approach is therefore not only contemplative, but also constructive. Keywords lexikology, phraseology, paremiology, lexicography, phraseography, Corpus Linguistics, equivalence

Forschungsmethoden

Kobel, M., Bilow, U., Lindenau, P., Schorn, B., Bachmann, G. 05 October 2021 (has links)

Deutsche und schwedische Idiome aus dem Bereich Sport im kontrastiven Vergleich / Comparison of German and Swedish Idiomatic Expressions with the Origin in Sports

Seeliger, Kirsten January 2023 (has links)
The object of the thesis was to gather German and Swedish idiomatic expressions with the origin in sports and to compare them, whether they are corresponding or not. These sport idioms, coming from different sport disciplines, describe circumstances in daily lifepreserving their original meaning and can be a problem for not-native speakers if not used in the right context. The result of the theses is that most of the German sport idioms correspond very good or good with the Swedish ones. Just a few idioms in both languages have no equivalent partner. That is a sign for the close relation between German and Swedish.

Influence of Rotation on the Weight of Gyroscopes as an Explanation for Flyby Anomalies

Tajmar, Martin, Assis, Andre Koch Torres 08 March 2016 (has links) (PDF)
We consider two models which lead to the prediction of a weight change of gyroscopes depending on the rate of rotation: mass-energy equivalence and Weber's force for gravitation. We calculate the order of magnitude of this effect in both models and show that Weber's model predicts a weight change depending on the spin axis orientation resembling close similarities to observed Earth flyby anomalies. however, our predicted effect is much smaller than the observed effect, which could explain why flyby anomalies were not detected anymore in recent spracecraft trajectories.

Die Suche nach der Äquivalenz: Auf einem Streifzug durch drei Disziplinen

Dobrina, Claudia January 2010 (has links)

The concept of equivalence has for many years attracted attention of researchers in variousdisciplines: from mathematics to philosophy to translation theory to terminology. This thesisintends to survey the concept of equivalence in three subject fields all of which focus onlanguages and communication, namely: translation theory, lexicography and terminology. Thepurpose of the paper is twofold: to investigate the theoretical grounds of equivalence in thesethree disciplines and to survey the methods and practices of establishing equivalence inmultilingual terminology work. The results of the theoretical investigation are summed up onthe basis of the terminological concept analysis. Four concepts systems are structured andpresented in the form of concept diagrams (two for translation theory, one for lexicography andone for terminology). The concept systems give an overview of the current understanding ofequivalence in the three subject fields and expose the relations between equivalence and anumber of related concepts. The central theoretical question of the thesis whether equivalencecould be considered the same concept in all three disciplines is answered on the basis of theresults of the terminological concept analysis. The empirical investigation is carried out in theform of case studies in the frame of multilingual terminology work. It focuses on the problemsof establishing equivalence, of determining the degree of equivalence as well as on the methodsand practices of presenting equivalents in various terminological resources.
