Design and construction of a portable wireless module

Rashed, Lauk January 2020 (has links)
In this thesis, a wireless module in form of a portable peripheral printed circuit board that can connect to a master device, periodically sending values from a sensor, has been developed to the company Biotage. A literature study has been made on antennas and PCB-design for high frequency applications and a prototype has been designed through CAD software. This thesis handles the design process behind the module which consists of choosing suitable components, measurements/matching of an antenna and design of a suitable rechargeable power supply module. The prototype resulted in a portable, fully wireless device with a long expected battery life with the help of Bluetooth Low Energy technology and low power usage components.

ATT UTVECKLA EN KRETSKORTSPROTOTYP : UTVECKLING AV EN SMART PILLERDOSA

Hallberg, Anders, Lindberg, Jonathan January 2019 (has links)
More and more people are dependent on medication for their survival. These are mainly found in older age groups. Many of these are medicated daily and the burden of medication is noticeable. Because of their problems, enormous stress is associated with medication because it is particularly difficult to remember when it is to be taken, which dose, but also which medicine. Some need to take medicine as often as eight times in one day. These people are treated by doctors. Doctors assess the effectiveness of medication based on the patient's ability and willingness to recall accurate information regarding their compliance with medication. All too often, the patient recalls wrongful information. We have been given the task of further developing a prototype for a "smart" pillbox whose goal is to improve the patient's experience in medication and give the doctor a reliable and safe way to follow the patients' compliance with medication. We have further developed a previous prototype by creating a new prototype that implements all the desired features on a customized circuit board. The advantages of a specially developed circuit board prototype against a modular prototype are investigated regarding size reduction, energy efficiency and cost efficiency.A suitable approach for developing a circuit board prototype, the results of the investigation and recommendations for further development are discussed and presented in the report.A circuit board prototype according to the stated specifications was successfully developed in the specified timeframe. The investigation showed that greater sizereduction, energy-efficiency and cost-efficiency were possible to achieve.

Printed Circuit Board Design and Layout for Hobbyists, Engineers, and Students

Derrenbacher, Michael A 01 December 2021 (has links) (PDF)
Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are a ubiquitous element of virtually every electronic system manufactured world-wide. It is not a stretch of the imagination to say that if it’s electronic, there is a PCB in it. PCBs are necessary tools for electronics work, and tools need to have instructions. For better or worse, PCB knowledge is a deep and wide ocean. There is much to cover for even a surface level understanding, and there are deep areas rich in technical expertise. Navigating the ocean of knowledge is treacherous; common knowledge of yore can be downright dubious now. PCB manufacturing and electronics as a whole have seen incredible developments in the past few decades, and knowledge once true may be outdated. At the same time there is a downpour of new techniques to use and challenges to face. The storm of information deepens the sea and can make it seem impossible to get anywhere without getting utterly lost. There are islands of knowledge out there hiding in books and papers and websites, but no guide to get anywhere. This thesis aims to guide the reader through the sea of information and provides a map that charts the shallows of beginner knowledge, into the deep depths of advanced design, of how and where to learn more. This thesis serves as an aiding means through the exciting and vast world of PCB design and layout.

The Relations of Attention to and Clarity of Feelings With Facial Affect Perception

Suslow, Thomas, Kersting, Anette 20 October 2023 (has links)
Attention to emotions and emotional clarity are core dimensions of individual differences in emotion awareness. Findings from prior research based on self-report indicate that attention to and recognition of one’s own emotions are related to attention to and recognition of other people’s emotions. In the present experimental study, we examined the relations of attention to and clarity of emotions with the efficiency of facial affect perception. Moreover, it was explored whether attention to and clarity of emotions are linked to negative interpretations of facial expressions. A perception of facial expressions (PFE) task based on schematic faces with neutral, ambiguous, or unambiguous emotional expressions and a gender decision task were administered to healthy individuals along with measures of emotion awareness, state and trait anxiety, depression, and verbal intelligence. Participants had to decide how much the faces express six basic affects. Evaluative ratings and decision latencies were analyzed. Attention to feelings was negatively correlated with evaluative decision latency, whereas clarity of feelings was not related to decision latency in the PFE task. Attention to feelings was positively correlated with the perception of negative affects in ambiguous faces. Attention to feelings and emotional clarity were not related to gender decision latency. According to our results, dispositional attention to feelings goes along with an enhanced efficiency of facial affect perception. Habitually paying attention to one’s own emotions may facilitate processing of external emotional information. Preliminary evidence was obtained suggesting a relationship of dispositional attention to feelings with negative interpretations of facial expressions.

Ideographic and relational approach of the Russian prepositions « в » [in, to…] and « нa » [on, by…]

Vavula, Tatiana 03 July 2012 (has links)
The thesis tackles the question of the semantic identity of the Russian prepositions « в » and « нa » establishing for each of them a relational basic scheme, by building their ideographic configuration, by grouping together their semantic relations in order to explain the polysemous use of them. It is argued that the meaning of the preposition is a complex system, where the abstract meaning of the preposition is specified by a number of semantic elements (ideographic and relational features) which are part of the context in which settle the various fields of application of the preposition. The Russian and French prepositional systems diverge because the semantico-relational fields of the prepositions are different in both languages : the character of the relation (activation of the ideographic features) and the number of entities in contact, governed by such or such preposition, differ from one language to another.

Analysis of Prokaryotic Metabolic Networks

Urquhart, Caroline 30 March 2011 (has links)
Establishing group structure in complex networks is potentially very useful since nodes belonging to the same module can often be related by commonalities in their biological function. However, module detection in complex networks poses a challenging problem and has sparked a great deal of interest in various disciplines in recent years [5]. In real networks, which can be quite complex, we have no idea about the true number of modules that exist. Furthermore, the structure of the modules may be hierarchical meaning they may be further divided into sub-modules and so forth. Many attempts have been made to deal with these problems and because the involved methods vary considerably they have been difficult to compare [5]. The objectives of this thesis are (i) to create and implement a new algorithm that will identify modules in complex networks and reconstruct the network in such a way so as to maximize modularity, (ii) to evaluate the performance of a new method, and compare it to a popular method based on a simulated annealing algorithm, and (iii) to apply the new method, and a comparator method, to analyze the metabolic network of the bacterial genus Listeria, an important pathogen in both agricultural and human clinical settings.

STAŠKOVÁ, Anita January 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with artworks of early school-age children attending primary schools at present. It is focused on ontogenetic model of art expression according to Victor Lowenfeld and artwork of early school-age children. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is dedicated to ontogenesis of children's artistic expression according to C. Brunt, G. H. Luquet and especially V. Lowenfeld. There are also findings about development of related parts of personality (cognitive, emotional, social) with particular focus on early school age. The practical part deals with formal artwork analysis of pupils from the first to the sixth grade of primary school. This artistic creation is compared with ontogenetic model by V. Lowenfeld and the aim of this work is to find out whether the artistic expression of younger pupils corresponds with ontogenetic model described by V. Lowenfeld.

Ergonomic evaluation of recyclable materials separation process using a "modular system" - a case study in a waste pickers cooperative in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Dulciléia de Sousa Rocha 26 March 2015 (has links)
Diferente do arranjo físico atualmente adotado, o posto-bancada possibilita reduzir a duração média do ciclo e a frequência das Atividades Extra Ciclo (AECs). / The separation sector (sorting) of recyclable materials of a cooperative located in the state of Rio de Janeiro was the object of this study aimed to conduct an ergonomic evaluation of the process of recyclable waste separation carried out by waste pickers, using a "modular system". The methodological procedures consisted of bibliographic research with survey state of the art, field observations using the Ergonomic Work Analysis (EWA) and schematic models of engineering of methods, and performing two experiments (station-rampa and station-bancada) using the strategy for mounting cyclegrams proposed in Analysis Decomposition in Steps (ADS). The analysis obtained from the results of two situations showed evidence that the current separation process at the rampa is deficient, time consuming and tiring, let the waste pickers with back and spine pain, and in addition there are many time losses in the transport of materials not adding value to products, due to the distance where are the containers for the packaging of the separated material The bancada module indicated to be the best alternative to the physical arrangement of separation, shortening the distances, suppressing some movements of the body (rotation and bending of the trunk), reducing the risk of spine injury. Different from the physical arrangement currently adopted, the station-bancada possible to reduce the average duration of the cycle and the frequency of extra activity cycle (EACs). The recommendations for improving the activity in the studied organization aimed at preserving the health and increase productivity. They were prepared, considering the physical arrangement, method of work and worker skills.
